I am so sorry that happened to you and Kayla. You have had to cope with so much already, and this must have been terrifying for you. We experienced this a lot with our little one, Gracie. She had CT, and going to the vet particularly got her worked up. I never went anywhere with her without bringing ice with me, since there were many times I had to get her temperature down or I would have lost her. I normally put her feet in a sink of cool water when she had difficulty breathing or when she got very excited, she'd go to the back door to let me know she wanted to go out. She'd jump into the pool steps several times a day to cool off. Nothing ever stopped her activity, but we had to be very careful with her. When it first started happening, I used a spray bottle and would wet her feet and forehead, but in time I had to act more quickly to get her temperature down. One time we were at the vet and the technician ran for oxygen. I asked him for one minute to put her in the sink to get her breathing back to normal, and it worked like it normally did. I knew this would happen every time she went out there, especially since she knew when there was no food or water down before we left that something was up. It was always very scary, but I learned how to respond when this happened with Gracie. I hope Kayla is doing much better and that you both don't ever have to experience something like this again. I'll continue to keep all of your family in my thoughts and prayers. |
