| Pit attack on a friend this morning, please send prayers for her. I was running a local bike path around the lake in my town this morning and saw a lot of commotion (fd, pd, ems) and called my brother (fd) to see what the deal was. He told me to be careful, a woman had been mauled by 2 pits who were running the neighborhood and they hadn't been caught. Thankfully I didn't have Whitney and Favorite, was alone. I watched them land a helicopter, load her up and fly away and had no idea that it was our music minister's wife. We are good friends with them, especially my husband and hers, and I'm just in shock. They caught the pits and tracked down the owner, who is not having any criminal charges filed against him by the pd. Turns out she had her two doxies with her and the pits attacked one of her dogs. She scooped the other one up to protect it and they came after her. She is pretty messed up, and they took her straight to tga trauma in Tampa by helicopter for surgery, but she is going to survive at least. She plays the piano like a goddess, and the pits got one of her arms the worst. Her doxies are both ok. Please say a prayer for her and her family. This has been a crazy morning! I was so excited to watch the medivac land because I had never seen one that close, and the whole time I'm snapping pictures and just in aw, it's her and I had no idea. This kind of thing was bound to happen in our town. There are several dogs like this who run loose near my MIL's house and one of them, a GSD, came after my 1.5yr old nephew last week! What a crazy morning. Sorry if it's rambling. I'm still just, wow.

| So sad....I hope your friend makes a full recovery. Will say a prayer. As for the dogs....what is wrong with their owner?? No charges on them?? Not everyone should own dogs...any kind of dog.

| I have NO idea why the heck the owner is getting off! These two dogs spent the entire morning harrassing people in the area. There's an elementary school nearby and a guy my brother knows had to find a stick and swing at them to keep them away from himself and his children while they were walking to school. I can't believe that this guy isn't going to face charges. My friend and I run that path with her 8 week old daughter in her stroller, and I cannot imagine had she gone with me instead of taking today off and had we been there at our usual time, half an hour earlier. There are moms with babies all over the place in the morning on that path. It makes me sick to think what if it had been a stroller and not a doxie? Really hit home, especially with the close calls we've had at my MIL's these last few months. She's lost a cat to 2 large dogs and had several come after her shorkie and even my baby nephew, in her own yard. It's really getting out of control.

| Why werent charges filed against the owner? This is why these type of things keep happening over and over because the owners arent held accountable

| Oh, I am horrified at what that poor woman and her doggies went through! Just the thought of what she had to endure is too much!!! I am praying for her and her family and her doxies! I am glad you did not have your little dogs with you. I'll bet you are in shock, coming up on something this awful. Did the dogs break out of their house some how or back yard - do you know?

| Animal control wrote him a citation and of course seized his dogs. That's it. It's a huge problem around here and sadly, it finally came to this happening and I'm not surprised. Just shocked it happened to a friend.

| Ah, probably another case where dogs will be punished for thier owners actions, while the owners get nothing. Dogs running loose is a major problem here also. I will say a prayer for the lady who was injured. |

| I'm not sure. I know that it's commonplace to see large dogs roaming around here, and even on the path, a lot of people bring their big dogs and walk the whole lake with them unleashed. I will not bring Whitney for this reason.

| I'm so sorry your friend was attacked, I will say a prayer for her. What a scarey thing to have happen. I hope she will be ok. Some people should not own dogs. And my heart breaks for the poor dogs who were not properly cared for and socialized. They will pay the ultimate price for their owner's neglect. This has me ready to cry

| That's so sad. I can't imagine living in that environment. I'd be scared to step outside my door. Sending prayers for her.

| I don't blame you. When a community won't enforce leash laws, everyone can be in danger. I sure hope your friend isn't too badly injured to make a full recovery, bless her heart. She sounds like a person who is trying to make a difference with her music service and was out just living her life when this awful tragedy happened. Hand surgeons can really work wonders ,though, in many, many cases.

| Wow. I am so sorry this happened to a friend of yours (or to anyone as I think about it). That is just a terrible position to be put in by the irresponsible pet ownership of another! I hope she has no permanent damage from this and makes a full recovery. I agree, these owners should face criminal charges and should not be allowed to own such large dogs (or any dog in my opinion) again. |

| My neighbor's Pitbull jumped or crawled over their Cox fence. Unless they have a really high and well-constructed, well-maintained fence, a big dog can find a way out. So sad and probably the dogs will be the ones to pay the ultimate price besides your friend and her family due to bad breeding and/or owner neglect.
