| Seriously does this happen to anyone else? I'm not sure why and would love some theories. We have been in our house for almost 3 years. My husband and I always seem to find various dogs roaming our yard, or in our back fence, or when we open the door they just come in. We take pictures and post lost signs and usually find the owners. This is getting bad, I counted today and we are up to 11!!!! In just two plus years. The latest was this morning my DH opened the garage and a large black dog long hair comes in and starts growling at him. We have been so lucky to usually calm the dog and bring it in side or put it in the fence until we find the owner. Today was the first time we had to call animal control to come. It is so upsetting because this little guy was injured and upset. Here's the kicker...while animal control was putting the dog in the truck a man stopped to ask if we had seen a Great Dane!!!!!!! I can't express how unsettling and beyond ridiculous it is how many people lose their dogs!! Our dogs are like our children...we don't let them out of our site! Is it just us or does this happen to anyone else?? We are known in our neighborhood as the pound palace! Is there an epidemic going around? Sorry for the long post, I am just so frustrated this morning.

| Well where I live unfortunatly its what we refer to as "drop off central". I end up with so many stray dogs and cats its crazy! I live on 40 acres basically in the boonies, so you get the idea. Foxy never leaves my sight, and if I am not home she is secured inside my home with no hopes of "escapes"..I do understand your frustration, I bet those dogs sense that a caring loving person lives there and they know you are there ticket home..lol...

| I do live in a pet friendly apartment complex and I've come across "roaming" dogs without their owners. There was a chiuahua that would meet kids at the bus stop and chase them home. Not safe at all for kids or the dog. When that same dog chased my kid, I actually had a fit and went to the owners door saying if she didn't keep an eye on her dog that it might come up missing. I know it was harsh, but it was out of anger and I did end up telling managment. Mind you, we haven't seen that dog without its owner and leash since that time. It's a sad situation that people don't respect their neighbors and leash their pets or let them just roam the neighborhood. I do understand that there are instances when pets get loose from fenced areas, but it's the owners responsibility to ensure it doesn't happen on a recurring basis.

| Hummm, sounds like your place is the "underground railroad" for lost dogs, aka Peachdogi Hotel In all seriousness, I am so very sorry for the unsettling event. That would have freaked me out as well. Did the dog belong to the man who stopped? If so all's well that ends well. I just can't imagine just "losing" a furkid.... I mean unfortunately the grim reaper will occasionally pluck one from your loving arms, but LOSING one? Give me a break!! |

| Thank Goodness we don't live in a neighborhood where there are alot of loose dogs. I reunited one with his owner and then there were two dogs who kept coming over to our yard and ripping open the garbage bags. The first time we saw them the police pulled up a few minutes later and then another car which was probably the owner. We saw them once again after that and we haven't seen them since. One was a big German Shepherd, and the other looked like a little Jack Russell Terrier. I hope the owners got wise or moved because I felt really sorry for them. |

No, unfortunately it was not his dog. I am going to call in a few days and found out if he was claimed. It's kind of funny that now people will open our back fence and just drop lost dogs off in our back yard. Sad thing is my youngest usually cries when the owner comes and gets their dog. If it was up to her we would keep them all!! Oh, and I forgot to mention the two horses we found eating our plants one morning. We live in a neighbor hood, that's the weird part. We did find the horses owners, thank goodness or you would have gotten a call Cindy. LOL

| I used to be the local, unofficial "rescue shelter" here in the old days and used to get 1 every 90 days or so it seemed like, but since our little suburb has grown so much, now we hardly ever see a true stray. I think it must be Animal Control - should one call them, they are out very quickly. Everyone there that I've met are real true dog-lovers and really have a mission to help dogs and get them back home if the owners will take them. Once in a while one sees a dog that is wearing a collar or harness, tags, clothing, etc., and you can tell from the coat and excellentbody condition that this is just a "breakout" case because they are out running in unleashed joy and won't come even if called. And if you stay out long, soon people come by with wild looks on their very pale faces asking about the dog. But I can't recall the last time I saw a dog that truly seemed homeless - hanging around the neighborhood sniffing, thin or unkept, acting thirsty or hungry. But it sure used to be the case years back.
