| fighting and rehoming Has anyone ever had to rehome due to fighting? We had 2 girls and 2 boys. As the boys got older there fighting got out of hand and we chose to rehome one of the boys. I have contact with the people that took Tank anytime I want and I know he is doing well and more spoiled than I had him. Everyone at our house is much happier too but...... I still feel completely guilty. Has anyone gone thru this? |

| I have not had to re-home a dog for fighting, but I just did recently re-home one of mine. He was a yorkie-poo and he kept urinating in the house, and barking all the time. I live in a park, so the neighbors complained, etc. He is 3 years old, and I was afraid he wouldn't like the new home. But I am Very happy that he is with the people I gave him too. He is the smallest of their 3 dogs and he is getting very spoiled. They have alot of land, all fenced in, so he has a ball running. So don't feel bad. Sometimes we have to re-home our little babies. But when you find the right home for them, it's heaven. He is having more fun than I could give him. I cannot even have a fence where I am. You can see your little one anytime you want, and he is in a good home. But if one of mine kept fighting, I would probably have to do the same thing.

| I haven't re-homed a dog but I did have to re-home a Bengal cat of mine. He was from my last litter of kittens and I really wanted him as a souvenir of my breeding program I had for 10 years. I had his mom and his sister from my first litter and he used to beat the cr*p out of them. He was a real big boy, extremely sweet with people but completely awful to other cats. He is now living happily on my in-laws farm, killing weasels, rats and mice. We get to visit him and he is still really friendly with us. I must say, he is the most gorgeous barn cat I've ever heard of!! I used to feel really guilty about not keeping him, but when I see him being so happy, I know we've done the right thing. | I know I've done the right thing, but I'm not ready to visit him yet. If he comes up to me and licks me like he use to I will lose it!!! |

| I can't visit my boy either right now. But knowing he is doing great is good enough for me, right now.

| I have not rehomed a little one but I have a rehomed little girl (Gracie). She came from a hobby breeder. The breeder recently came to visit and we were both curious about how Gracie would behave. Rest assured that she is 100% OUR dog. She treated her original owner like she treats anyone else visiting us. She was friendly but chose to stay on Daddy or Mommy's lap during the visit! Rehomed dogs almost always do as well or better in their new homes. The people that take them are usually so happy to get them they treat them extra specially good. I'm sure there are exceptions to that rule and there will be dogs that are hard for anyone to keep but I think rehoming is a gift you give to both the people receiving the dog and the dog itself. |

No Longer a Member | I did, with Cooper. I was really sad to have to re-home him just a few short weeks after he came to my home as a rescue. He was a great dog, and just adorable with people and even got on well with my cat. But after a few weeks he started to attack Rizzo, I planned to only temporarily place him until he was neutered and the hormones worked their way out of his system but after all that Rizzo wouldn't go near him. We met up at a dog park to see if they would still get along, but Rizz just wouldn't "forgive" him, he would hide behind me and wouldn't stop shaking so I decided it was in the best interest of Coop to stay with his new mommy (who couldn't be happier, lol). I was sad to have failed as a new mom for Coop, but I'm in contact with his new mom and he has made huge strides in her care. He still is wary of the grooming process but he no longer goes into aggressive mode when you bring out the clippers. |

| I know the guilty feeling you are experiencing. We had to re-home Hazel a couple of months after we purchased her because of her constant bullying of Sophie. Sophie is happier and Hazel too has a great new home where she is the only dog and spoiled like one. We know she is happy and that eased our guilt considerably. Sometimes it's in the best interest of all concerned.
