| Nervous Around Small Children Not the pup but me! My 2 year old nephew was here yesterday and I was so nervous about him playing with Binks. Binks absolutely loved him though, running and barking and jumping on him, but I was so scared my nephew would fall, or step on him. By the time they left my house I was shaking! Just wondering if anyone else has did this and if it gets any easier? Sharon |

I Love Thor Donating Member | Thor has BAD habbiots around small children, which really makes me sad. Some kids he is fine around (like the ones I babysit everyday) but then some kid in the part the other day I really thought he would have bitten her if he had gotten 1 inch closer!! I tell kids that want to pet him 'no' but I wish I didn't have to do that! I dont want to get sued. If your Binks is good with children let he meet many more, especially if he is a puppy still. You are lucky!! H |

| I really am glad he loves kids, I just am so afraid of the kids hurting him on accident. I guess as he gets older and grows a bit I'll be more comfortable with them running and playing with him. We already love him so much it would be horrible to have something happen to him. I guess I may be just a wee bit over protective. Sharon |

| I know it makes you nervous, but it is a good thing for your yorkie to be socialized with children. It is also a good opportunity to teach the child how to treat animals. There is nothing wrong with telling the 2 year old to sit on the floor and you sit with him to supervise while you all play. If the child is running around wildly then pick up your dog so you can keep accidents from happening, but I personally would encourage the interaction with kids. Also you will know which kids not to let around your dog, I have two very well behaved kids and they know the rules around the dogs, however I have a 3 year old nephew that is not nice to animals and he is not allowed anywhere near my dogs. |

| Better that you are nervous than him being nervous. It is good for them to be socialized around children. I have a 5 year old and a female yorkie that doesnt like to be around kids. She hides.

| My pup is about four months old. I have a seven yr. old daughter and a three year old son. Our other dogs are Bassett Hounds so I was a little challenging for the first couple of days. My son is not allowed to pick Gizmo up, but I do allow my daughter to occationally(to take outside to potty). Gizmo thinks the kids are part of his pack and has never been anything but sweet and playful. If your puppy is the same(no hard biting) the game I tought my kids to play with him might help you with kid visitors who want to play. I have them play "hide and seek" puppy style. The kids lay on their tummies on the floor with their hands "hiding" the sides of their face and Gizmo tries to "seek"their face out for kisses. Sometimes we put small baby blankets covering their heads and he digs them off and them goes from one side of their face to the other kissing. It tickles the kids and tires out Gizmo. They are so busy laughing that they can't hurt the baby. My kids teach our game to every friend who comes over! For the younger kids, I usually hold Gizmo and let him kiss just a little so they don't get scared. They are also told that Gizmo only gives out kisses to kids who are nice to him. Maybe that is something you could use. I don't blame you for worrying! Binks is sooo handsome!

| Yep your shoes are probably like mine, worn across the whole bottom instead of just the heels...what a hoot...I like the words "Yorkie Shuffle" so that is what I am going to start calling it! Cindy & The Gang |

| You do have to be careful around little kids! My grand children are good with Snoodles, but I have to supervise all the time. I have a stuffed toy tied with a nylon sock, which she loves to play with. It streaches, so doesn't hurt her mouth. But, the boys will pull on it too hard, and drag her with it. It is now a no no for them to play with it with her. Also, they are not allowed to hold her unless they sit on the floor. No picking up while they are upright, and NO Squeezing! One just has to put down rules. If the young one can't or won't do this, they put your dog in a crate or room until they are gone. They could really hurt the dog! Pat |
