I don't think you are being over protective at all! Accidents happen in a blink of an eye and they are sad but I do think you can take measures to prevent some of them. I think kids can sit down and play (throw toys,etc) with the puppy but I would not allow any running with your baby. Kids get running so fast they don't even pay attention to themselves and run into each other and fall down. They also don't always know where they feet are going and could easily step on your baby. At my house anyone who visits has to learn the Yorkie Crawl, shuffling their feet instead of picking them up. My friends don't want to hurt my kids but they are not always paying attention where they put their feet which is normal and my guys don't always move as fast as they should, so to prevent accidents we do the Yorkie Crawl
But remember these are my kids and not my dogs so I am over protective to some people
