YT 500 Club Member | Younger then i thought I believe Sienna is much younger then I was told she was when I purchased her no she didnt come with papers for me to check so im trying to figure out just how old she is. She has had one vet appt but i had a free vet visit coupon and they knew that going in so they didnt really check her ( will be changing vets just because of that ) they weighted her on the big dog scale and said she was 2.6 lbs I told them there is NO WAY she is that large and MADE them recheck her on a kitchen scale where she turned out to be a pound and a half ( mommy knows best ) I know that yorkies are different sizes at different ages but she is MUCH smaller then Penny was and Penny was younger when i first got her. Penny was 2.2 pounds at 9 weeks and Sienna was 1.4 lbs at "10" weeks shes very very thin barely has any front teeth poking through her gums i mean TINY she does eat like a horse though. She is supposedly 13 weeks old right now and still very small since the vet didnt do any sort of exam like at all (jerks) i have no idea what her age is I told her to a different vet that would not give her a shot cause it hadnt been long enough inbetween shots and the lady was certian she was 6 weeks I just want to know how old my baby is!!

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Oh dear that is so sad. Sure glad that you were able to rescue her. How many teeth does she have in her mouth? That is probably a fairly reliable guideline. I would just go with what the vet thinks - six - to seven weeks sounds about right if the incisors aren't fully in yet.

| You should be glad they didn't bob her tail. It's against the law in Europe and they are just beautiful with the tails God intended them to have. Glad she is eating. She'll put on weight naturally. Keep your eye on her and she will thrive |

Size alone will not help you determine her age. Trying to estimate off of the development of her teeth, as your vet did, would probably give you the best guessimate. She certainly sounds a lot younger than 13 weeks.

In any event, it certainly does sound like she is in a MUCH better place now that she is with you. I think it was wise for you to hold off on the shots for another few weeks until she is a bit bigger. And if she's eating well, then that is great. Sounds like you are doing a fabulous job with her and she is lucky to have someone watching out for HER best interest now. Last edited by BamaFan121s; 07-07-2010 at 04:07 PM.

| It is possible that she is younger,, But I just wanted to add, that my brother got his puppy at 12 weeks and his front teeth were not in yet, in fact at at 14 weeks his bottom canine's were still not in yet..The vet even told him that he my not have any at all..but the vet said that he might be a slow developer. and it turned out that is exactly what it was..he found out that his puppy was 3 days longer opening his eyes than all of his litter mates.it turned out that he was 16 weeks old before all the teeth came in all the way..He is 5 months old now and completely fine, and smart as can be. so maybe she is just slow in development as well..
