| I think I NEED to get a muzzle for Sugar Sugar started to bark very frequently, especially at night. Personally it's not a problem to me, but she barks too often, my family members started to feel sick :'( I tried so many ways to make her stop barking non stop, including changing the location of her crate, letting her run freely or wherever she wants to, giving her foods, buying her new toys, watching TV etc, but she would just be quiet for a while and started to bark loudly after a few minutes. My neighbors started to complain as I'm living in an apartment, my family members are headache about this. Are there any ways to stop her from barking too often? Is muzzle the only way? I'm just worried muzzle is bad for her, and it would be really hard to get a very small size muzzle, she's now 9 months, 1.9lbs. Sigh...any suggestions? Thank you! |

| Have you tried teaching the "quiet" command? Pennies in a can? Citronella collar? Muzzles should be used for short periods of time when humans are in danger of getting bit. They can't be left on all night unless it's a basket muzzle which would do nothing for barking. Actually, they can still bark in regular muzzles sometimes anyway.

| Wow, I wish I could help. The only comment I can offer is that I would not leave a muzzle on her for more than a few minutes. I would worry about her not being able to drink water, or possibly choking. I did see on "It's Me Or The Dog" where a family had the same situation. Victoria used a "clicker" and said "No!" every time he barked excessively.

| Oh I would not use a muzzle for this problem.Muzzles are for protection from being bittten that is it!Sorry but using a muzzle on a dog is dangerous unless it is to solve a horrible problem such as biting.I don't want to hurt your feeling but... I would really try to train her not to bark so much.It is a longer process, but these dogs are SMART! She can be trained. Use the command "No Bark!" and maybe the can of coins or a loud noise such as a clicker.Sometimes just the disapproving tone of your voice will be enough.

| She knew very well that she should bark when I say Quiet, but she wouldn't listen now as I said I have no idea why, and my neighbors complained :'( I may receive letter from management of the apartment if I get another complain, that's why it is very urgent for me to stop her from barking non stop. I never want to hurt my baby :'( |

I just thought about something...since you live in an apartment, maybe your baby is reacting to sounds she hears from neighbors. Are there other dogs living next to you? Yorkies are such good watch dogs and they hear everything!

| Yeah, there's some other dogs in my apartment, but they don't bark too often. Previously she only barked when she heard funny things, but right now she barks whenever she wants, I think barking has became her hobby, ooh my! |

| She is too small for a muzzle you wont even find one her size. I would try a bark control device. I dont even think you can get a citronella collar her size

| the squirt bottle method worked for us...give her a very hard squirt in the face when she barks and say "QUIET" and she'll figure it out |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I recently bought the Bark Repellar from Amazon and it works great on 2 of mine and not so good on the 3rd one. It definitely helps and it is cheap (15.00) and emits a sound that only they can hear and they don't like it. With Roxie and CAli all I have to do now is hold it and they stop barking. I hope you can find something that helps.
