Donating YT 500 Club Member | Safety of your Yorkie Okay...I am stretching the issue just a bit but if you are not safe, your Yorkie is not safe either. I just read a forwarded email that I think may be one of the best I've ever read and could change the life of you or someone you love. Please take a second and read it. I honestly don't know why someone hasn't thought of this before. It makes alot of sense and is so simple to implement. Put your car keys beside your bed at night. If you hear a noise outside your home or someone trying to get in your house, just press the panic button for your car. The alarm will be set off, and the horn will continue to sound until either you turn it off or the car battery dies. This tip came from a neighborhood watch coordinator. Next time you come home for the night and you start to put your keys away, think of this: It's a security alarm system that you probably already have and requires no installation. Test it. It will go off from most everywhere inside your house and will keep honking until your battery runs down or until you reset it with the button on the key fob chain. It works if you park in your driveway or garage. If your car alarm goes off when someone is trying to break into your house, odds are the burglar/rapist won't stick around. After a few seconds all the neighbors will be looking out their windows to see who is out there and sure enough the criminal won't want that. And remember to carry your keys while walking to your car in a parking lot. The alarm can work the same way there. This is something that should really be shared with everyone. Maybe it could save a life or a sexual abuse crime. |

| I read that a couple of years ago and thought it was such a good idea that I've kept my spare keys/remote next to my bed ever since. Thank you for sharing!

Have you tried it? I also live in a condo on the second floor and if I click my remote my car will open so I am sure the alarm will also go off. My neighbor lives behind me and has no access to windows that face the parking area and when his little girl plays with his keys his alarm goes off and i have to knock on his door to tell him because he dosen't hear it. Try it you might be surprised. | |

| I was going to say the same thing. I park not in the street but far from my condo. Even if my car is close by, like at my parents house, the alarm doesn't work. The alarm has gone off and the car was parked right in front of the kitchen window when it went off. I tried really hard to get it to turn off, but if I'm not really close to the car it's not going to work.

| Keyless Entry and Cell Phones two things, one, i don't have a car alarm darn the 99' malibu for not making one. Two: i've also learned you can unlock/lock a car door by using the keyless entry through a cell phone you put the cell phone of the person who needs in the vehicle next to the car door. the other person puts their keys up to the phone and presses the keyless unlock or lock button, somehow the sound waves or something from the key pad travel through the phone and unlock/lock the car via cell phones. i didn't work when i tried it, but i was too close to the car and not in other location, some people have tried this from out of state and it works!! |

| I've been doing this for a couple of years now. Mostly since we switched from land line to cell phone only. Just another layer of security next to my bed I also use my remote in the parking lot for LOTS of reasons If I forget where I parked I can hit the lock button and listen for the beeps or if I'm on an airport shuttle for example I can hit the button to give the driver a visual (lights flash) of where I'm to be dropped off! Also for the safety issue if I needed to set off the alarm Thanks for the reminder! I'm sure lots of people have never thought of this before!

| Thank you so much! My husband is on night shift, so I am sleeping with 3 small children and my 2 furbabies in the house at night. I swear, I've been sleeping with one eye open for the last month. I'm getting exhausted. I am just so paranoid about a break in, or something happening...and then I worry about what I would do *if* something were to happen. I just got a brand new van and the panic alarm on it IS LOUD. This is such an awesome tip. I will be sleeping with my van keys starting tonight, and I'll bet that I sleep soundly for the first time in a month. Thank you again!
