| Anti Dog People. I understand they have a right to not like my dog or any dog but do they have to be so ridiculous about showing their disgust. He’s a beautiful pup. Clean, well mannered (most of the time). I am a responsible dog owner. If I have to experience one more silly antic by these people I am going to lose it. How do you handle anti dog people? We have been in Kansas City for the last two weeks and I have had a woman on a packed elevator (in my dog friendly hotel) who backed all the way over as to not be near my Austin. Austin was in my arms watching, waiting for the door to open just like everyone else. Then there was the woman in one of the stores my husband is a OM for who started to move uncomfortable in her chair away from Austin who was on a lease. A short lease. Ohh my favorite was a woman who had three girls who wanted to pet Austin so I picked him up answered their questions and when I walked past their mother about to open my mouth to say “Hello” the woman actually turned her head in disgust. I was so nice to her brats. Today my cleaning woman (in our other dog friendly hotel) comes to the door to ask if I need anything I have Austin in my hands (he’s not barking not moving he’s being an angel) and hands me the toilet paper like we have chicken pox. Granted there are some very nice dog people out there. But its always the evil people that you remember. OHHH and NO I am NOT Anti Kansas people. My husband is operations manager for stores between Kansas and PA. Kansas is on of my fav place to visit. I could be at home and still have these issues. So not trying to offend just want to vent and see how other people handle these A…holes. Cause I might need to be bailed out with my smart mouth and hot temper. He's my baby!!!!!! |

| I agree, just ignore them. I actually feel sorry for them that they will never know what it feels like to be loved by these babies.

| I cannot believe that there are anti-dog people out there! I guess I have not really experienced anyone who has not loved Couver I guess I have just been lucky I do not think I would have very nice things to say to someone if they were rude to Couver...

| This is what I was thinking...though, I admit I find it sad when someone is terrified of my girls when they are walking along (behaving), minding their own business, leashed and someone acts like they are growling and lunging for their throat. They have NO idea what they are missing out on!

| I've actually had people see Uni in my shop and scream, no kidding. I WILL NOT put her away anymore if they ask me to, b/c quite frankly they never even say thank you when i do, and they don't ask me to, they tell me to. They say they are afraid of dogs, or don't like small dogs. Really? What is your problem. I understand if you're afraid of a pit or rottie, but a yorkie? Come on!

| It is something one must let roll off the back because for every “not a friendly” we do meet 5 wonderful respectful people. It’s just been a rough two weeks with this type of behavior. We live in a dog friendly community and since I got Austin I have learned they are the reason people can identify and get to know their neighbors. More than my handsome little man, I feel bad for the kids who have to witness this behavior from their parents and they in turn “learn” to be “afraid” dogs. |

| Walk Away I pretty much just walk away & do my best to hold any comments to myself (until I get to tell my husband or friend about it - like "can you believe..."). I have gotten some pretty disgusting looks - sometimes when Buster & Bailey are barking up a storm & actually disturbing people (but I'm trying to calm them down & make sure they are quiet), but other times just because the people don't like dogs, and they are jerks about it. I ask a lot of times if I can bring them places, or even to meet another dog on a walk or something. This past weekend I even asked a golf course when we were on vacation (I'm not shy to ask!). I was expecting a no, but figured I would ask. I asked very nicely at the golf course front desk (it was a pretty slow day, a public course, and not a very nice one at that so I figured I'd give it a shot - they even allowed some people in our group to go around in a cart & catch frogs for fish bait later on our trip, but said no to my little 2 allowed on the course). I asked "Do you mind if I walk along in our group with my 2 small dogs"? and she snipped back at me rather rudely, "YES, I MIND!" I just said OK and walked out. I find that people can be big jerks, but I just walk away & try my best to hold in my comments. I've known people that are petrified of small dogs, so I just leave them be. Buster & Bailey wouldn't even harm a fly intentionally, so I know that they are nothing to be scared of & just don't pay too much attention to any anti-dog comments or actions.

| I have a neighbor who is afraid of all dogs. Even my sweet Yorkie. She told me a that when she was young she was bitten in the face by a German Shepard. I can understand and respect how she feels though, cause I was bitten by a husky/wolf mixed breed on my neck when I was 10. It was my own fault, cause I was told not to go near the dog with food when he was tied up. I was eating a apple from a near by tree when he just jumped up and bit me. I didn't think he could reach me but he found a way. That really hurt. I've probably been bitten about 7 times by dogs...I don't fear them but I do respect their unpredictability. snow |

The 3 Musketeers Donating Member | I guess I really haven't experienced anyone who is rude to me or which ever dog I have with me. I did have a rude telephone conversation with my father in which he 'told' me that I should not have all the dogs I have and should get rid of at least one. I'm not on very good relation with him and I told him to mind your own d**m business. These are my kids.

| My Aunt is this way. She gets all funky about her kids being around and the dogs are always welcome at her house if they are outside or in the garage. It has really damaged a good relationship- my dogs are well trained and all other family members including her kids and hubby love the dogs. Some people just dont understand how much a dog does for you and your family.
