| Saying Goodbye to your yorkie when you leave...(?) Train Your Dog to Stop Barking The link above has a section on how to say goodbye when you leave your home. The section sounds like it may work but his tone is a bit careless. We do whats best for the both the doggies and ourselves. His idea that leaving your pup/dog isn't a big deal/don't treat it like a big deal does make sense! When I leave the home should I give Brady something to keep him busy right before I leave and stay for a an extra ten minutes and leave when he is to buy with a kong to notice me? I don't think I could go without hugging and kissing and the same for when I return? Does it make a difference if you "don't notice them" when you leave and come home and does it help or hurt your pup?

| I think that having a routine is helpful for your dog- if you just ignore them as the article says- they may not know if you have left or are just in another room and could spend the afternoon looking for you- causing anxiety. Layla has a routine before I leave- i put down a blanket on the stairs (where she hangs out) that only goes down when I am leaving- i tell her to come give me a kiss which gets her on the blanket- i tell her i love her and that "mommy will be right back"- i usually say that phrase a few times- this way she knows I am leaving and like every other time- i do come back Many people fill up a Kong with something speical- only for when they leave- whatever your routine is i think that having one that you stick to is VERY improtant for your dog to put the pieces together and figure out that you are going to leave but you are going to come back. |

| We always tell Lilly "mommy and daddy love you and we'll be right back". We say it several times though. She just sleeps while we're gone then as soon as we come in the door you can hear her upstairs jump off the bed and wait at the gate.

| Well, I guess that I'm the oddball out here because I don't say "Goodbye" to Missy, or give her a hug or a kiss. I just go! If she barks to come with me, I nicely say "Sorry Missy, but you can't come this time". She never barks when I leave, sometimes she does when I get back. When I get home, she gets my full attention after I've taken all of my kids shoes and jackets off (and my own) and put away groceries or what not because that's usually where I've gone if Missy can't come with me.

| I have been heating up her rice bag and slipping it into her pillow. I place her "bully" on her pillow and give her a small bite of something (cheese or chicken) and tell her "be a sweet girl". I pat her pillow and tell her "have a good day, mommie loves you". Then I walk out without looking back at her (because I hate leaving her home alone). Then I go to work and count down every hour I am away from home |

| I always give Fancy a hug, kiss and tell her "mommy loves you and I 'll be back in a little while. Be good!" I put her in the laundry room with her bed and some toys and put a baby gate up so I can leave the door open. She gets so excited when she hears us come home, she barks and "dances" along the gate and as soon as I have the kids/my shoes off I go pick her up. She show us all lots of love as if to say I missed you. Its very sweet, we always get a very warm welcome when we come home!

| I always say goodbye too. I give Maddy kisses and tell her I will be home soon and will miss her. She still barks like mad but at least that makes it bearable to leave her. |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | I always give macy a sweet rub, her favorite chewtoy, and put her in the kennel before i leave. She doesnt bark or cry(she did at first) , i think she understands mama will be back I dont think i could just walk away without giving her love first, or putting her in her comfy bed

| Mine don't bark when I leave. They just sit and look at me pathetically. We have a routine. Generally, I have a gate at the steps so they can't ever go upstairs unless I allow them to go with me and then they can only be on my bed--This is mainly because Mayzie is too curious. So they know when I take the gate off the steps and move it to the hallway and lock the other gate--thus keeping them in the kitchen-they know I am going away. This is when they just sit down and look at me. I then say Bye bye and that's it. I think they generally lay on their bed when I am not here because that is where they come from when they see me at the door. Then........they go balistic!
