| Neighbors neglecting their animals and I'm nervous I hate where we recently moved to. It's a really small town and I couldn't find a animal rescue anywhere that would come this way. I called about our neighbors dog trying to find someone to come and get it and the court house told me I'd just have to file a police report. I was scared to death and just couldn't bring myself to do it. I stay home alone the majority of the time because my boyfriend travels and works. His sister used to "hang out" with our neighbor and said he was a pretty uneasy guy meaning he'd most likely try to do something if he found out I filed a police report because he neglects his dog. They have 2 dogs but they don't keep one of them tied up constantly like they do the other (or try to anyway). They've had a countless amount of dogs since we moved in here (we've only been here 3 months), they had a very small dog that we ended up feeding because it just broke my heart. It ended up disappearing, my boyfriend's sister said that another dog got a hold of it or something. Anyway, so, yesterday I had Rickey go ahead and call the police department but all it would do is ring. So, I got on Google and searched and searched and FINALLY found something, it's called Real Dog RsQ Inc. in Munfordville, KY. I looked and couldn't find a number but found an e-mail address and e-mailed them asking if they rescued abused/neglected animals and they said they do. I e-mailed them again earlier and told them the situation I'm in and I'm waiting for a reply. The dog is awful. We knew things were bad but didn't know it was as bad as it is. They were keeping it in a crate the size of Lilly's because someone (not me) called the sheriff on them for their dog's getting into someone's garbage. So, yesterday we came home and she was laying on our front porch. I scared her off by shewing her off the porch because I don't want Lilly catching anything from her (not sure if it's possible but I'm not risking it) and was horrified at what I saw. Her ears were raw and bloody almost like she had mange or something, she was infested with fleas and not to mention how sickly skinny she is. Oh and to beat it all... she had what looked to be a shoe string wrapped around her neck and it looked like that's what they had her "tied up with", it looked like she had either broke it or gnawed it so it broke. I just don't understand it, they have a baby and everything and whenever the smaller dog was still around she had the mange too and I'm pretty sure had fleas and it would go into the house quite a bit??? So I don't know... I'm sorry but I'm not a violent person at all but if killing someone wasn't against the law, my neighbor would already be shot. Any advice on what I'm doing, I'm so scared and I know I should have gotten something done sooner but I'm not going to put Lilly and I in risk of something happening to us. When we first moved in he told Rickey he'd buy Lilly from us, he's just a really weird person. I don't know if I even made sense in all of this, hopefully I did though.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | That is terrible. It must be so awful to watch that and not have many options. Hopefully the rescue will get back to you and be able to do something. You are doing the right thing in trying to get help for the animals. Be very careful and I will keep you all in my prayers

| I feel so for you. Just a bad place to be in. If you could file a police report and stay anonymous. What about the sheriff's dept of the county? We had a neighbor that was starving a pregnant mare. It was in the winter. I called the Sheriff's dept. and was able to remain anonymous. Boy I wish I could help more, I just feel for your situation. Please keep us posted. |

| I just reported one of my neighbors . They kept the dog attached to a tree in their backyard , poor dog , he didn't have enough food and water . I heard them asking about the person who reported them . I was a little nervous but they told them it was confidential . |

| THat poor dog! I hope you hear something soon. I think the police are the only resource you have right now though. Where is your nearest Humane Shelter? Please let us know what is happening. |

| Oh my, that's a horrible situation for the dogs. But you did the right thing. I hope the Rescue gets back to you soon. I will never.........understand how anyone can treat a dog like that and not care!!

| Update I just received another e-mail from the rescue asking if it was possible to take a picture of the dog, I told them I would try because the neighbors are hardly ever home but I'd only take it if the dog came in my yard. I'm not risking going into their yard or anything, this morning when I took Rickey to town their other dog was barking and growling at us and we weren't even near their house or anything (it roams a lot so I'm not sure what's going on with it). They also asked if I thought the owners would be willing to give the dog up and I said I didn't see why not but you never know because they're kind of weird. I would DEFINITELY call the police and leave an anonymous report but whenever the dog got into whoever's garbage and had the sheriff called on them I was home alone at the time and he pulled in our driveway one night at like 11 honking his horn and revving his engine (I didn't go to the door or anything) then the next night at about 9 he came knocking on our door asking if I called the police on them. The closes humane society is in Glasgow, KY which is like 30 minutes away and when we called them asking if they could help us on what to do they just told us to call the police department too and file a report, they were really rude.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | OMG how sad is that they can do this without telling those JERKS who reported them and YES Pictures really help ! That's what I had to do on my neighbors years ago - they saved the dog in under 48 hours and I'm in houston - a big city - so to me that was pretty fast - but - it was the pictures that did it. Take your camera and ZOOM Way in on the dogs face and any parts that look bad - you don't have to be close if you have a good zoom lens good luck ! |

| Oh hun, I'm so sorry!!! (((HUGS))) I don't know what I would do if I was in your shoes ... I would be too scared that they would do something to me or my furbbys ... but I agree with what some people have said, try taking a picture using zoom. Good luck. I will be praying for your safety & for that poor, poor dog. Amy

| I live in a small town, too. Went to a humane society 30 miles away an spoke to them. They asked if the dogs had a shelter and water. Had to say yes, but the tiny dogs are outside in zero to 100 degree weather. Their coats are so matted. Small town officials just close their eyes. I've thought about offering to be animal control for $1.00 per month. Just makes me cry.

| Call or go to your police department. Explain to them that you're new, you don't want to cause any trouble or animosity between neighbors, and that you'd like to remain annonymous. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you have to file a formal affividat (sp) for your name to be mentioned. Take as many pictures and videos as you can when you find this dog on your property and collect them all up for evidence of neglect (is he getting skinnier, more matted fur, injuries, etc). Keep a daily journal as to the dog's condition, agressiveness to passersby, shelter, food and water, human contact, when it wanders off the owners' property. Maybe if you had enough evidence, the police would be willing to work with the humane society. Maybe the police could work with you and just act like theyre just checking up on the dog since the call about the garbage instead of answering your call about the dog needing to go to a humane society. Good luck, and keep us posted. Oh, mention to the police that the guy seems a bit threatening, and that you're afraid of him. Keep a recorder by your door and if he comes over, hit record before he knocks and make him talk THROUGH the door, dont open it. Don't worry about getting his picture, keep the camera hidden close to the door so all you get his angry voice on tape. |

| One more thing, it's the job of law enforcement to protect the community, and if this guy seems like he could be agressive, that;s more of an incentive for them to leave you or ANY of your neighbors out of it. |
