| Six weeks old and 12 ounce puppies Well here I go again. I took Timmy and Faith in today for the dreaded six week check up with the vet. My vet just laughed when we took them out of the carrier. I have a digital scale and check them three times a day- to see if there has been any growth. I have two beautiful, happy, healthy babies who tip the scales at 12oz and 12 1/2 ounces. At this rate they are going to be too little for me to keep as a show prospects. I looked in the local paper today and as usual it has numerous advertisements for Yorkie puppies. Many have babiews they are the same age as my babies and they are letting new owners take them home. What in the world are the breeders thinking and what in heavens name are the new owners thinking. Those kids are no more ready to leave home- then I am to run a marathon. ( humor in that is I went to the ER again yesterday cause I tripped and fell again. Third time in two months not doing to good here they are starting to know my name. Hubby is afraid that I am going to be mad at him one day and respond yes when they ask if he hurt me. One way to keep that ole boy in line. LOL- A side effect of my cancer treatments to my head is that I have Parkinson's disease and trip and fall at times) I have called the other breeders some have pupppies that never been to the vet- some no shots or worming at all. It worries me when they state they wormed them and gave them the puppy shot themselves. Unless you are a vet or have been taught by someone in in the field- how do they know how much worming med or immunizations to give those puppies. It may cost me a lot more in the pocket book to raise my babies- but I feel a lot safer having the vet make those decisions for me. Wnalegria |

| They are going to be tiny ones 'eh? And I've never heard of people giving worming meds or shots to their own puppies?? That is not right, they could kill them is they don't have the proper training to do this! Some people's children!!

| You can buy the shots and worming stuff at pet supply places and it tells you how much to give them. You can also buy the stuff at some vets offices. When i used to do all my dog rescue stuff I used to buy the shots at the vet and do it all myself. |

| Deegan's mom It is an accepted paractice for a breeder to give shots and worm med. We buy vaccine from the same companies. Giving a shot takes no medical schooling. Worming pups is a common thing to do. Puppies should stay out of the vet clinics as much as possible the first few months..I take them for an 8 week/12 week check up..stool checks..but I do everything else, except rabies/heartworm check. |

| Well I guess everyone does it diffrent! I take them in 6-7 weeks for check and 1st shots! Our vets what them to have them at 6 weeks! after that I buy the shot from them and give my self! I worm them myself! I mainly take them in to check for heart mumors and any thing else! To much stuff in a vet's waiting room for theses little ones so they usually take me in right away! Just to have 2 pups checked it's 100$! Cost me 150$ this last time mommy need rabies and check up! She was PG when the vet was out in March! It's not cheap! I try and take care of much I can myself! My hubby is one that freaks out ! We got take to the vet! Willies' eye I was taking care of it and was looking better! O no hubby got to take him the vet! So we did and Dr. said to keep doing what I was doing! O well he has to help pay the vet bill! Ha He says he don't care!Guess I'm lucky! I well shut up now! lily |

| Six weeks and 12 ounces I chose to take them to the vet and have everything done by them. I raised Arabian Horses and Cats in the past and did my vaccinations. There was always that one person or thier vet who would question you about doing things yourself. I decided that I would spend the money and take that headache of my shoulders in case of a problem. The kids are in at three days for tails and dew claws, 6 weeks for 1st vaccination, stool check, physical and worming, same procedure at 9 weeks and 12 weeks. My appointments are at 7:30 in the morning- the first one of the day. This system works for me- does not mean this is how it must be done. This is just my routine-and it works for me. That is why we have a freedom of choice -I was not attcking those of you who do your own vaccinations and worming. My concern was for the uniformed who are doing this as a cost cutting measure and do not care about the health of the puppy/adult. These are the same people who I have found in my area advertise yorkies as Teacup, Small and Standard. Who are selling very poor quaility puppies. My babies are at klsyorkshireterriers.com on the puppies for sale page. Both Timmy and Faith are sold I just have kept them on the page cause I don't have anything else to put on the page.
