I looked in the local paper today and as usual it has numerous advertisements for Yorkie puppies. Many have babiews they are the same age as my babies and they are letting new owners take them home. What in the world are the breeders thinking and what in heavens name are the new owners thinking. Those kids are no more ready to leave home- then I am to run a marathon.

I know enough about dogs for my own satisfaction having worked at 3 boarding kennels, 1 vet clinic and a doggy daycare plus having had a subscription to DogFancy since I was 9, plus other acquired knowledge about dogs. Yet, I still bought my Yorkie from a "backyard breeder" at 6 weeks old, never had shots, was supposedly "looked at by a friend who is a vet" but not at the office, never had dewclaws removed nor the tail docked and she is the healthiest little dog. Never been sick, no knee problems, liver is fine. She goes to the vet now, obviously. But, just wanted to put in my two cents. Yes, I know I'm a lucky one, but it is possible.
Also, she's super friendly to dogs and people.
