| When is it a good time to get a second? My baby is 4 months old now. I do eventually want to get him a companion. I noticed many of you have several dogs. When is it a good time to add another dog to the household? |

By the way, I figured Chachi is from Happy Days. I saw an interview with Frank Marshall (Penny's brother) who also produced Joanie Love Chachi. He was remarking on how the ratings for the show boosted in Korea. He later learned that Chachi was the word for the male member in Korean. I laughed when he was telling the story. | |

| I think you will know when you are both ready. I would consider it when your current baby shows signs of needing or wanting a playmate.

| I think you'll know when the time is right. Just be prepared that it may take a while to introduce the new addition into the pack but keep at it! |

| I think the younger the better, so they can grow up together, and you can get all the potty issues over at once. Best luck with your new baby.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I added 9 week old Cali when my pom was 8 years old, then I added 13 month old Pixie when Cali was 1 1/2 and Maya 9 and I just added Dixie tonight who is 6 months old. So far no problems.

| I've heard from several dog trainers that it is best to wait until the first one is a year or older if he isn't 100% potty trained and well mannered as he will be able to set an example for the little one to follow. When puppies go through that "teenage" stage about nine months old or so, they sometimes regress in potty and obedience training and if you have two puppies, you often end up with two unhousebroken, poorly trained adult dogs. I have several friends involved in rescue and they said the main reason pairs are turned in is that they are not housebroken. |

| Snickers was 11 months when we got Baxter. I thought it would be easier to potty train one at a time and it worked out well. I was able to give full attention to each one and also Baxter learned from Snickers. Also Snickers loved having the company. His separation anxiety disappeared. As others have said, you'll know when the time is right for you.
