| How Dog Friendly is Your Community? We live in Seattle and have found it to be very dog friendly. I have a special shoulder bag that I put Bentley in and he goes everywhere with me. He is so good and just sticks his little head out and looks around at everyone. He goes to the mall and pretty much every store - he even helps me grocery shop. So far no one has said anything to me about him except how cute and well behaved he is. Right now we are visiting my parents in South Dakota (Bentley did very well on his first plane ride). I took Bentley to the mall here in his bag and we got kicked out. I was very surprised as they didn't have any signs posted, but a security guard came up and told me we had to leave. It upset me a little as Bentley is better behaved than most children, but i guess not everyone appreciates our yorkies as much as we do. We are anxious to get back to Seattle! How are things where you live? |

| you are very fortunate in seattle then........ i live in mission viejo california, and i USED to live in san clemente.... THEY ARE DEFFINATLY NOT DOG FRIENDLY, no dogs are allowed on the beaches, there are STRICT leash laws (they give TICKETS to you if your dog is not supposed to be in the viccinity or he doesnt have a leash on)..... every store i go into says "no dogs, unless service animal", and THEY WILL kick you out of the stores (wal mart does this too, i thought this was kinda interesting since i went into walmart to get toby a DOG HARNESS, how am i supposed to know if they dont let him try it on? anyways, i got kicked out).... just about everywhere has this "antidog" attitude san clemente especially (they pretty much have an anti EVERYTHING attitude)....... i got kicked out of starbucks too (i only went in for two seconds to ORDER my coffee because my boyfriend can never get it right, i was going to order and let my boyfriend stay and pay the woman and wait for the coffee, but as soon as i walked through the door she said in a VERY LOUD voice "YOU CANT BRING THAT ANIMAL IN HERE!!!!" ...... i just looked at her and said "i just came in to order my coffee really quick, now can i order or not?" As i have said before, you are very lucky to have a dog tolerant place to live..... living here with a pet is a NIGHTMARE....... the apartments around here arent very dog friendly either (and on top of that they charge a "pet rent"........ otherwise known as extortion of pet owners....... and they charge this IN ADDITION to a $500 pet deposit) |

| We have a local dog park that we go to on the weekends. Sandy LOVES the small dog section and my children love the children's section, everyone is happy! (and please don't worry, my husband and I do keep my kids away from the animals, I know they are not all comfortable around children.) I've tried to take Sandy to some stores (we are also in California) but with the exception Petsmart where she did her obedience class, no one allows dogs inside.

| Hi, Bentley's Mom! Yes, I agree, Seattle is VERY pet-friendly. I guess it's because people are more laid back out here (except for the horrid traffic). We've found we can mostly sneak Yoda in anywhere we want (sometimes even restaurants). I just don't see a big deal if you are holding him or he's in a bag and you go someplace, but I would think stores and malls see that and think that if they let a small dog in, then big dog owners will want to bring theirs in as well, which can become a big fiasco... Oh yeah, when you get back to Seattle, Yoda and Bentley should have a play-date! Well, maybe when it's warmer out. |
