| Help..my new puppy WON'T WALK Hi Everyone; Magic my new puppy is 5 months old and has been with me for 2 1/2 months, he doesn't like to take walks , i have his dad Shaq who loves to walk and both Shaq and i are getting frustrated, i end up holding Magic on my hands because he just seats and cry's and will not move. i have tried 4 different harness's, i know he hates anything on his body, collar, leash etc..but he just won't walk, he will only walk when he realizes that we are heading back home...any idea's on how to deal with this? |

| Did you try leaving him in his harness at home before you bring him out for a walk to let him get used to it? When he get used to the harness, you can try to put on the leash and let him drag it around at home to get used to it. Do it when your home so that they don't get tangled on the leash and choke on it.

Yes, this is what she should do as I had to do it with my other puppy who still drags a bit but is getting better. Best is to leave harness on him and then add the leash and let him drag it and then reward him when he carries it so he knows i tis something good and not to be frightened. Remember, puppies are afraid of everything as it is all new in this big bright world to them

I know for Ephaba its not the harness cuz she seems to really like the ONE harness I have. The other two are still too big so she fights them..but she loves the one that fits and doesn't it like it when I take it OFF. I think thats cuz its fleece lined and helps keep her warm!

| lol....I am so sorry to laugh but you just described my Buddy!!! I don't know about your furbaby but my Buddy is just lazy!!! He too hates to go on walks too. He will lay down and whine for me to carry him!! He always heads to the nearest shade tree. He is one year old tomorrow and has been this way since the day we got him. I know there is nothing wrong with him physically because he will practically run when we turn to head back home!!! lol He is extremely active with the exception of walking...he will run and play for hours as long as we are in our own yard or in our house. So he is very active except when it comes to walking. I am sorry to say, I have not found anything that helps with Buddy.....I have just learned to except that he hates walks. But I have found that he doesn't mind walking when it is cool outside. Hopefully, our fellow YT'ers might have some suggestions.
