New Yorkie Owner needs advice! Just picked up Coco two nights ago and have conveniently been home for the last two days so haven't had to leave her alone. We have set up a baby gate in the kitchen and plan on keeping that area dedicated to her. We have her little bed set up and pads on the floor at opposite end of the kitchen. Current problem is the poor thing cries and yelps when we put her in her kitchen area and gate it off to go take a shower etc. I know part of the process is getting her used to this and so a certain amount of crying is going to have to happen...but I'm worried what will happen when we are out of the house for about 4 hours tomorrow. Just let her cry? Help! Thank you!

We crated our boy in a playpen when we went to work as this is what he was in when he was with his mim. When we put him in it we gave him a couple of puppy biscuits. He liked his treats. So usually by the time he ate them he forgot we had went and left him. It worked for us.

Help Della is 6 months old. I am at my wits end. Our 1 1/2 acre yard is not fenced. We have always carried her out on a leash. Ocassionly she has slipped out and I have been able to rattle her treat box and she will come running to me. Twice yesterday she ran out past my husband and it was like she was crazy running and running ignoring us completely. This continued for at least 15 minutes. Both times a neighbor came by called her and she come running to her. She loves people. Inside the house she will come when i call her and I have always rewarded her. I fear for her safety. I have even thought of some kind of electronic collar and invisible fence. We are senior citizens and may have to give her to someone. Any suggestions? Will obedience training help?
