| Rain Not Good for Potty Training! So, I'm from CA. We haven't been getting too much rain this winter...yet. Bella, my 9-month-old Yorkie, was finally on her way to success with potty training (thanks to my in-laws who took it on while we were on vacation). She wasn't peeing in the house anymore, and just pooping occasionally inside. Everything was going great, and then these past couple of weeks came...and we got some rain. Well, Bella is afraid of the rain and wind. So, she doesn't want to go outside! I've picked her up and put her outside, closed the door and walked away, but she just stands there at the door shivering. I feel so bad for her! I've also started to walk her in the rain so she can get used to it, but it's a hit or miss thing. Sometimes she will go out in the rain, and other times, she won't. Any suggestions for what to do?! |

| My female was like that too and I had to pad train her. She still goes outside too but mainly on the pad because she wont go out in the snow either

| Do you go outside with her when you put her out to potty ? If not I would take her out on a leash so she knows its time to potty and doesn't think she just has to stay out in the rain. I take Sydney out on a leash, say "go potty" , so she knows it's not playtime.

| Hmmm, that is actually a good idea. I usually stand near the door, but if it doesn't seem like she is getting the idea, I will go out on the patio and place her on the grass. Then I will tell her to go potty. Sometimes she gets it--other times she looks at me like, "Ummm, I'm getting wet. Take me in....please!" |

| Depending on how hard it is raining mine will sometime go on the grass and other times just on the patio. it drives my DH crazy when they do that but I am just glad they didn't do it in the house. I will just stand with them on the patio and tell then to go potty and praise them wherever they go

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | Yes, the rain can be a pain when it comes to potty training. My boy hates it too, and when he was potty training I found it nerve racking. even now when he is trained I still have to go out in the rain with him. If not he won't go.. I guess that is just the way it has to be...LOL.. Cause I don't want him going inside and I am not about to start using potty pads. |

| I'd say yes, go outside with her...start saying "hurry" or "go potty" right when she starts to go...soon all you'll have to do is say the magic word...and she'll be done...and then you can both go in where it's warm and dry!!! Good luck!!!

| Definitely go outside with her, on a leash or even just standing next to her. I had to do that with Jackson for the first few weeks and still sometimes have to.
