| Logan is destroying the wee wee pads Hey Everyone, Logan has been pretty well mannered and only cried for the first 2 nights, now he sleeps all the way through the night without a peep. I've noticed that while I have been out he will DESTROY the wee wee pad and then "go" where the wee wee pad USED to be before he destroyed it. I even tried putting some tape down on the edges ... but Im using shipping tape and I don't think it sticks well. I have what some have refered to as an "x-pen" (not sure what that exactly means...) but i have a baby gate and he has the whole kitchen to himself... his open crate and the wee wee pads and food/water. Do you know why he might be destroying the wee wee pads?? I'm trying to stay calm when I come home and find that but its really hard. Im sooo frustrated... hes a wonderful puppy so loving and all that... I just don't know why hes doing this!! Also he's kind of picky with his food but I think its because he doesn't have all his adult teeth yet. Definitely getting him neutered on the 6 month birthday..hehehe |

| Sorry you are having so much trouble! He is just being a puppy. I found that they destroy the pads more when they are bored. One way to help with this is to get washable pads. They are much more sturdy and cheaper, too, in the long run. If you want to stay with disposable pads I would suggest using a frame to hold them, which you can get at Petco or Petsmart. The one that completely encloses the edges works better than the ones that you tuck the corners into. But they still are not fool proof. I tried both kinds and still ended up going to washable pads.

| It is a phase. Give him lots of toys to play with. PetsMart sells pee pads that have adhesive tape on two sides Jump Start by Simple Solution. That might help. Gracie shredded no matter what I tried. Eventually she just stopped doing it.

So find hope in the fact that I believe Friday stopped doing that when she was about 6-7 months old. Each pup is so different. I had the tray and all. She somehow seemed to get to it anyway. It must have to do with the teething phase. Happy New Year and Good Luck! Hope I helped ease your mind.

| I have a babygate and would let Oliver & Charlie have the whole kitchen when I had to leave the house too. Charlie ALWAYS ripped up the potty pads -- leaving poor Oliver with nowhere to go! Charlie either got bored liked people mentioned or nervous and overwhelmed by too much space (I read that happens to puppies sometimes when the area is TOO big). When I have to leave the house now, I put Charlie and Oliver in their x-pen. Charlie seems to leave his potty pad alone in there. They just snuggle up together in their bed. I am going to let them have the whole kitchen again maybe when they get a little older??? I hope it is something he will outgrow too |

| Lol - I can feel your pain. My furkids would shred the disposable pads, especially the ones that contained baking soda. I solved my problem by switching to the washable type. I purchase mine from http://www.valethics.com They are reclaimed from hospital/nursing home use and are thoroughly cleaned before they are shipped. I have been 100% pleased with these pads. They are very inexpensive and wash well - they have a nice heavy cloth covered rubber backing that DOES NOT LEAK. |

| Just wanted to add that a couple of members here make washable potty pads. You could so a search and/or take a look in the Products for Sale areas if you decide to go that route. |

| I'm sure we have all gone through this at one point or another. I tried the tray and it worked for about a week but they figured out how to get at it and tear it to pieces. Now I use the washable pads and they still mess with it. They roll it up, drag it around. It's a pain in the butt. Hopefully they will stop soon. Good luck!!!! Not sure I was much help other then this is normal puppy behaviour.

| I am laughing out loud- sorry. Barney will sometimes do this. He will be like playing with a toy and then run around and suddenly like attack the puppy pad- like he just saw its real use. Usually he will get it and run with it, shake it, bite it. I just catch him each time and say NO Barney- NOOOOOO. And he stops. Good thing they are cheap.

| My Yorkie hated the wee pads, He would chew and tear them up also. So I put newspaper on top, then he would tear up the wee pad and leave the paper. Now I ONLY use news paper or butcher paper. |

| Indoor dog potty ... Here are some websites that have piddle pad trays where your doggie cannot get to the piddle pad and rip it up. I am thinking of getting it. Does anyone else have this? Can anyone give recommendations??? Reviews??? http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html...sin=B0009PM2MU http://www.doggienews.com/lib/supplies/wizdog-potty.htm http://www.ugodog.net/

that sounds good, thanks for the review, so I just ask for a sifting cat litter tray? And use the grid? and this is okay for the little paws our babies have? Thanks for sharing. I hope this helps the OP as well.

Yes, you can get them at Wal-Mart in the pet section, around $11. The grid is perfectly sized - I used it with my puppy no problem. Use the pan, put a pad in it and then put the sifting grid on top of the pad. If you try it let me know how you like it.
