| Fun Dog Parks in SoCal? West Coast Traveling? Hi YT Friends! I wonder if any SoCal YT-ers might have a recommendation for a good dog park? I am looking on Yelp, etc. but wanted to inquire here about any especially fun/safe/clean dog parks for our smaller pups. I'll extend my question to the rest of the West Coast, DH and I are planning a road trip up the coast. I would certainly make a special stop for a wonderful doggy destination. Thanks for your help, I want to take my little lady to run!!

| Hi There! How fun!!! Peanut loves road trips, even if we are going down the street to grab some food!! The HB dog beach is really nice. In that area there are tons of great walking paths, plus you are at the beach so it is awesome. I have found this link, it shows the top 10 dog parks in Calif. You can also search by city- it will pull up all the parks in that city!! Home Page Top 10 Dog Parks in California

| Dog Parks & Zoom Room - SoCal Quote:
Speaking of Huntington Beach, is it fenced or closed off in any way? I imagine that would be hard to do. I do want to go there but we only adopted Lily about a month ago and I'm just too nervous to let her off-leash in a public area that's not contained in some way, at least for right now. We need to work our way up to that. We live near Venice, SM Airport has a great park but it's covered with cedar chips that can be stinky and the small dog side is not always open, we also have one at culver park that's just dirt. I've only driven by that one, I haven't been in. Just wondered if anyone had a pleasant experience at any particular park. I'm thinking about checking out Zoom Room's indoor dog park. I'd rather keep it free or otherwise Mom & Pop so I've stayed away from Zoom Room thus far, they look good online but I'll have to check it out in person! Have you ever been there? A "nice clean dog park" may be a bit of an oxymoron, especially in Los Angeles?! I hope we can find something good!

| Peanut use to get car sick too, well not so much car sick as he was nervous. I bought him a car seat and it has helped him. He usually wants to sit in my lap and look out of the window, but I try to make him sit in his car seat in the back… if we are just going down the street I will let him be up with me.. I try not to because you just never know!! I can understand how her eye sight would make her more car sick. The dog beach part is closed off, well you pretty much have to climb down to get to it. The only way a dog would be able to escape is to rock climb back up. When I went I kept Peanut on his leash, as this was his first time at the dog beach. It was Saturday, so it was very busy. Lots of big dogs coming up to him and sniffing him- which he wasn’t too fond of. He actually hated the beach LOL, it was pretty windy and he didn’t like walking in the sand… so we hiked back up and walked around the walking paths. Which was more his style. Concrete and grass! The ocean is right there and you are a little high up so it is a great view. The path goes down pretty far, so it really is a great walk. I never heard of Zoom Room, I just checked it out and the one in HB and Costa Mesa are not available yet. We have a dog park right by my house. It is Riverside Riverwalk Dog Park- they keep it really clean and they have a big/small section. I personally don’t like going to dog parks in general. Peanut isn’t really fond of them either- he would rather take a nice long walk. He hates when dog’s come up and sniff him, he really doesn’t play with any dogs LOL He just walks around sniffing and peeing on everything- so I find it pointless. LOL I think no matter how clean the dog park is, it is going to smell like pee- your dog is going to be walking around in pee and smelling pee and poo. IMO I find that dirty and I still worry about him catching something LOL, For us taking a nice long walk is perfect. We have this man made stream it is called riverwalk.. it is really nice.. Tons of ducks and walk ways- fully landscaped it is really pretty- Peanut loves annoying the ducks! Here is the dog park next to my house Riverwalk Dog Park | Dog Goes

| Sorry, didn't see earlier post. Yes, mostly big dogs off leash at beach, so my boys don't go, I bring my big dogs and hold my little ones. |

Everything (human and dog) is crowded here in LA for at least the next month or so until summer holidays are over, tourists return home and school is back in session. Eager to take her off leash and throw the ball around a bit though. There is a wonderful human park/stretch of the beach that's grassy and so well kept on Ocean Park and Neilson Way near Santa Monica Beach. I love walking here but as Lily is a rescue just one month ago, I'm still a bit hesitant to take her off-leash when there's no enclosure. I'm sure it's so different when you raise a dog as a puppy. She's doing great, just need to build that trust (it's probably more me than her but ... no she's got plenty to do with it!). We don't have too many areas around the Westside of LA to practice having fun off leash so it's something I'm constantly looking for! Thanks again for the suggestions!!
