How fun! Lily gets carsick but we're working on gradually increasing the distance/time she can travel comfortably. She loves going for short trips and when we take long ones I give her Cerenia, it's been a miracle for us. We only use the med occasionally when we go visit San Diego or are planning on driving around a lot. She has a car seat, that's helped a lot too. Slowly but surely I hope she'll be able to go on longer and longer trips. Lily is also blind in her right eye from an accident she had as a puppy. She doesn't let that stop her from anything and since it happened when she was so young, I think she adapted to having one sighted eye at a young age. I can't help but think the lack of eyesight on both sides contributes to her motion sickness though.
Speaking of Huntington Beach, is it fenced or closed off in any way? I imagine that would be hard to do. I do want to go there but we only adopted Lily about a month ago and I'm just too nervous to let her off-leash in a public area that's not contained in some way, at least for right now. We need to work our way up to that. We live near Venice, SM Airport has a great park but it's covered with cedar chips that can be stinky and the small dog side is not always open, we also have one at culver park that's just dirt. I've only driven by that one, I haven't been in.
Just wondered if anyone had a pleasant experience at any particular park. I'm thinking about checking out Zoom Room's indoor dog park. I'd rather keep it free or otherwise Mom & Pop so I've stayed away from Zoom Room thus far, they look good online but I'll have to check it out in person! Have you ever been there? A "nice clean dog park" may be a bit of an oxymoron, especially in Los Angeles?! I hope we can find something good!
