| Beware of Pauley's Pups in Richmond,VA Hi everyone. I just wanted to put this out to everyone that pauley's pups is somewhere you do not want to get your puppy from. My dog Miso is currently 15 pounds when I was told he would be tiny and besides that he has major skin allergies that has me taking him to the doctor everytime the season changes. When his skin allergies first appeared not only was he bald on the bottom half of him from all the scratching but my vet bill was enormous I wouldn't be suprised if I had spent about 7,000 dollars on just his health. I tried calling the owner directly to ask about the allergies but no one picked up. Not only that but when we got Miso he ate like crazy as if he was starved. All their dogs are in groups in a giant crate depending on the type of dog. I should have known something was shady right when I went in. I love him to death though and he is such a sweet dog. A dog with a great personality came out of that hell hole so I'm grateful to them for that but nonetheless they are the very shady and should not be trusted. |

| I am so sorry. I had heard good things about them too. This lady I know got a chi from there. Her vet hight recommended them. I almost went there for my 2nd yorkie and then a poodle. I am so glad we didn't. I can't beleive the vet recommened them, it makes me wonder how good of a vet they are. Thanks for the post.

What a shame the breeder doesn't take better care of her puppies! Have you had Miso allergy tested? It is a blood test, the cost here is about $150.00, it might help cut down your vet bills. I am glad he is so loved by you, and has a wonderful home!

| Also, before allergy testing, has he been treated with a round of imivectine (hope that is spelled right). Sarcoptic mange is frequently misdiagnosed as allergies and is very hard to diagnose as the mites are almost never recovered on skin scrapings. Hair loss is common with this. Do a goggle search on dog parasites and see if you think this could be the problem. I read that some vets won't even do allergy testing until the dog has not responded to a round of imivectine ( pretty sure the spelling is wrong, sorry). Hope this helps.

| Miso's vet at is wonderful and she kept on testing him on everything to not put him on oral steroids but eventually it got so bad that we had to. He is actually fine during the winter but over the spring and summer it can get really bad so she gave me a prescription of steroids handy for when it does get bad i give him half of it and then ween him off a little later when the season passes. I wish it were those parasites but she already tested him for that and a few other things such as the possibility of him being allergic to fox feces since I live near a wooded area but nothing came up. I even have him on allergen free food. I just thought I would mention Pauley's pups because if you go there in person you'll notice it is not the best place for a dog and I remember when I got Miso the stench of him was so bad it wouldn't go away for a week literally. All the dogs there look unhealthy to so my best advice is to NEVER buy a dog from them |

Have you reported this breeder to the local animal control so they can go investigate? If not I would...if you are not sure how to do it ask your vet for contact numbers in your area.

| Avoid Pauley's Pups Yes, please stay away from Pauley's Pups. I have gotten 2 Maltese (the only dogs that I'm not allergic to). My first I only had for less than 2 months. Daisy had a liver shunt. She was only 4 months old. Then Pauley's gave me Lily, she's been gone a month now. I'm not sure what was wrong with her. I came home from work and she was gone, she tried to hang on until I got here, I was a little too late. I will eventually get another fur baby but I can't do it just yet and I will NOT go back to Pauley's ever again. I know 4 people that have gotten pups from there and only 1 out of the 4 had a problem. I know that Pauley's has been shut down numerous times, but he manages to open back up. Ashland/Hanover needs to do something to keep this from happening to anyone else. My heart breaks for all those poor pups there. I am looking for a great Maltese breeder with a good health warranty. I can't go through what I have been through again. I'm so grateful that I did have the time that I had with Daisy and Lily. And I know I will see them again. Daisy and Lily |

| Pauleys Pups Sorry to hear about your dog. I have heard some bad stuff about them, but the BBB of Virginia has no complaints about them. I also have many friends that have purchased from them with no problems. I hope in the future that if anyone has problems with them that they would put in a complaint to the BBB so to protect others that might purchase from there. I know from reading here I would be very leery of them. Hate to hear these stories. So sad! |

| it never ceases to amaze me that people will come on with one post to defend someone. Maybe they are the person themselves. We are not idiots on here as you will find out and not many of us pay any attention to people that only post once in a great defense of someone. |

u cant be serious? you must be a partner with them or something because only a employee or owner would defend them its a disgusting place for animal lovers to visit...im not into picketting pet stores for selling dogs and i dont get mad if someone buys from a petstore that sells dogs...but this place get dogs from puppymills reguardless of what they say..which is that they come from breeders they know..well if they know breeders that have that many dogs and breed that often what do you think the public calls those breeders??? P U P P Y M I L L E R S it is not "one of the best" the best place to go is a actual breeders where you see the enviroment, the parents, the health care, warrantys..etc... no pet educated owner would recommend pauleys | |
