Beware of Pauley's Pups in Richmond,VA

I'm sure you have to understand, when you have that many puppies around, they can't be just turned loose in a room together....what a mess!!!

Obviously some of the fault also needs to fall on the breeder and puppy mills, Pauley's is only selling them not breeding them. Inherited traits fall back on the breeder of the puppies, and if you think about it, Pauley's may be a far site better than where some of these puppies came from, you just don't happen to see that part of the picture.

I'm sure some improvements could be made, and you are given a guarantee
at the time of purchase, all you have to do is take the dog to the vet and have it checked out. They also give you back the purchase price plus $60 if the vet says it's unhealthy.

Like I said, I'm not a regular here, and I am not affiliated with Pauley's in any way. I just thought I would put in my opinion since I have purchased dogs from Pauley's and I know others who have also and none of us have had a problem.

I don't even have to read this whole thread. You put it ALL in prospective with your own words:

I guess my question for you is do you think it's perfectly alright for Pauly's to go and buy or broker pups from mills or bad breeders and then sell them for a profit or sell them at all? Do you not realize that all this does is keep a vicious cycle going. The poor parents of these pups living their whole lives in cages, without vet care, minimal food and water, no heat in the winter or cold in the summer, in a lot of cases no shelter from rain, snow, cold or heat. Suffereing their whole lives pumping out babies for your people like Pauly to sell until one day there suffering ends when they die by themselves in that cage they lived their whole life in. Yeah, you go ahead and defend this Pauly and tell everyone how none of this is his fault and when you do this ask yourself how your pups parents are living if they aren't dead yet and have a wonderful holiday season while you try to justify brokers like Pauly.

2nd..i could be totally wrong because i havent reported anyone to the bbb..but i heard once (and again i just heard it so i could be wrong) that if the problem is taking care of..the BBB will remove the complaint...if requested

FACT: there are petitions to close them down..big warrning sign there
FACT: complaints against them
FACT: the dogs come from puppy mills..to have a "supply" of over a 100 dogs (which is a quote from pauleys ad's) at all times..means that someone is pumping out the puppies to supply them with..and in order to supply that many consisitently that alot of breeding....puppy mill
FACT: certain breeds have been banned from there business
FACT: they sell mix breeds as purebreds if they can pull it off

you can try to defend it all you want but i wont believe anything positive about them, i will continue to tell people in passing when they ask me about where to get a pet to stay away from them...

My daughter and I were looking for a small breed pup and happened onto this establishment. It is what others have noted here that each are in cages and designated what kind. You did have to wear an apron and gloves and if we wanted to look at another dog we were instructed to change our gloves and aprons. That said, it doesn't change that the breeders these pups were coming from have obviously been over bred. I purchased a Malti-poo in late 2007. She developed skin conditions that ultimately has led to her skin turning black and hair falling out, She started smelling like old crackers for a better understanding. She has had a test for allergies and we have been in and out of the vet since. She has to wear a sweater or a t-shirt in the summer as she has no hair on her body. I have gotten her skin to turn the right color. The vets call it sebaceous dermatitus. It's something irreversible but can be slowed down but too late for her. She is precious, but it hasn't been fair for her. After finding this and reading that my Muffin isn't the only one that is suffering form this condition it leads me to think that it is connected to Pauley's pups. Right now she is in the hospital because she developed diabetes. She will ahve to be on insulin the rest of her life. I see so many malti-poo's and they certainly don't look like her. She was once so beautiful, it's not her fault. Something needs to be done.
