Also, before allergy testing, has he been treated with a round of imivectine (hope that is spelled right). Sarcoptic mange is frequently misdiagnosed as allergies and is very hard to diagnose as the mites are almost never recovered on skin scrapings. Hair loss is common with this. Do a goggle search on dog parasites and see if you think this could be the problem. I read that some vets won't even do allergy testing until the dog has not responded to a round of imivectine ( pretty sure the spelling is wrong, sorry).
