Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Brucellosis test .. Last month I took my Chanel and Harry to my vet for pre breeding tests, and my vet told me that the Brucellosis test is no longer required in the pre breeding test unless is a confirmed case around, since brucellosis is an un common disease. I insisted and he did it on them but have any other breeder heard that from their Vet? he knows better than to argue with me when I want something done.. he is my son's boss after all and basically knows that I win most of the time.. but that caught me by surprise, we also did a liver shunt test just for my peace of mind, even tho Chanel is a silkie terrier and not a yorkie. Harry boy went thru the same battery so I know they are both healthy and hopefully we will have GORGEOUS babies in a couple of months.. |

| Well, you all's vets haven't heardd of my friend, a beagle breeder, that just spent three thousand dollars on tests for is dogs and treatment after bringing a couple of them home from a dog show with Burcellouiss. but that is here in Kentucky. Anything that EVER breeds to one of our males yorkie or beagle, will still have anegative burcellouis test required. |

| Brucellosis is rare, BUT if the dog had it then they will pass to the other dogs and usually they req males to be put down if they were to have it. We req. a current brucellosis test on ANY female that breeds to our male. EVEN if they have never been bred before...just an infected dog licking a females privates can cause them to have it. Why the worry? The test is cheap and quick!!

| Here in southeast Texas I know of two breeders that got shut down because of brucellosis. I would be leery of breeding to someone else's female without having the test done first. |
