| Maybe we could do all of our GE shopping directly from YT members, since I feel like I can trust my fellow YT'ers to not sell things that are harmful for anyone's dog.

My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | I love the gift exchanges!!!!! They are so much fun getting items from other people, getting items that you may or may not have bought yourself. The surprise is the most fun!!!! Although I love getting home made clothes and blankets...I just don't have the time to "make" my gifts...so if it was an "all homemade" gift exchange I wouldn't join. I love them just the way they are and trust my fellow YT members not to buy anything bad for my babies We are excited for the next one We really enjoy then and my new baby Brooklyn gets to sign up this time!!! |

| Yep, I agree. It shouldn't be changed or any amount of anything regulated. If you don't want to participate you don't have to. I LOVE giving gifts and I sometimes might get a little carried away but that's my business how much I want to give. I enjoy it and it makes me feel good. If others want to give money to some other organization, they can do that, but I don't think that should have anything to do with the GE. As for only being able to make things, that also should be a choice. I, for one, do not have the talent of making things like that. So, if that was the rule, I would not be able to participate if I wanted to. How fair is that???? My OPINION!!!! |

| This is going to be our first GE and Bella and I are sooooooo excited! We will follow whatever rules are set, but if things need to be handmade I need to get some fellow YTers on the hook before they get swamped with Christmas, etc.!! I sure wish I were crafty! I love looking at the pictures on here of the sweet babies standing on top of the boxes after the package arrives! I love the giving spirit it seems like everyone on here has, and my 2 daughters (10 and 7) are already thinking of ideas for our GE buddy. I think it is going to be a blast and hopefully everyone will feel comfortable to put down what they don't want their furbaby to receive.

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | This last GE was our very first. I wouldn't change a thing about it. I don't think that a limit should be put on it being hand made stuff (as not everyone is adept at crafting) or a limit on money (everyone knows what they can or can't afford to spend). I didn't spend the minimum required but that was my choice. I totally enjoyed the spirit of the whole thing and will definitely be doing it again. I don't feel as though there was a competition with who spent more etc. It's a lot of fun and the whole process should be left as it is. JMO

| just list what you don't want - simple! :) We love the GE's!! They are soooooooo much fun!! I hope they don't put any restrictions on us. I think most YT'ers have enough common sense to know what to send and what not to send. Just put in your details what you DON'T want and it will actually make it easier to shop to just get other things. There are still lots of great things out there to give. Handmade is AWESOME but so are things bought out of love. Don't complain if they get something they don't like if you didn't list it on your profile. Nothing from China will cover a boat load of items! We will just have to get more creative in our choices!! We can't wait for the next GE!! This will be Princess' turn and she is already doing the yorkie dance just thinking about it!! |

| I am really excited about the next and our first GE, I think i'm going to enter Indy. I agree that its complicated with all the things they can't have but I think we will be able to work it out, after all we do it for our own babies. |

I hope everyone who gets to do the GE has a very nice time shopping and receiving, and I will enjoy hearing all about it. I too had fun doing that a few times, but it's just time for me to stop. | |

| This one will be our first GE, and I've been excited about it. This thread just seems so negative though...ADMIN doesn't even have to arrange this for us. I would hate to see them restrict what we can or can't send, like homemade things only or 3 toys only. It should be the gifters choice to what and how much they send and how much they spend on it. I guess this whole toy recall hasn't really scared me though. I just looked at a few of Lacy's toys and they're made in China but I'm not throwing them away. I do think it's good that there is a "can't have" section though because that way the buyer doesn't spend money on what your pets can't have. I don't feed Lacy grains so I'll put "No treats with grain in it", but I sure wouldn't want to list a whole page of things that she can't have. I think that would intimidate me as the gifter...I'd be afraid to buy anything for someone so picky. I think the GE is such a great thing, and I hate to read the posts that are negative about it because it's pretty amazing we even have something like this offered to us. It should be fun

| WOW! I'm a little surprised where this thread has gone. I believe Marci was just talking about the recent scares with toy recalls and certain treats that aren't good for Layla. It's getting fairly hard to trust anything anymore, especially for our babies. I think it's ok to make a list of things your baby can't have, that way you are sure to get things they can use. I happen to agree with yorkiedaze on this one. The gift exchanges have gotten so expensive that I'm afraid if I don't fill up a box with expensive things and a ton of gifts people will judge me and compare with those that can afford more. I've been thinking about these GE's for awhile now and I think it's great that people love them it just seems that it might be fun to try something new like having to make gifts and getting creative or donating items to those that really need it (like the shelters). We all have our opinions and the exchanges are not going to change so there is no need for panic here. |
