| This may be a stupid question ... about dog tags. As the title states, this may be a stupid question, but do you guys seal your dog's tags / tag clips in anything to keep them from getting scratched? Nilla's a very active little girl, and a lot of times her tag has gotten scratched up and the color would come off of her tag clips. I was wondering if and / or what you guys do in the way of tags and clips. I know YorkieTalk is the place to ask! Thanks for looking!

| mine only wear the tags when i put their harness on and its not a lot. we built a new play area for them so i do not have to chance walking them in this extreme heat or with the big dogs we encounter...so now its even less.

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | You may get a better response if you post in the off topic area or YT. You could try some clear nail polish.

I am thinking that the clear nail polish idea (from the following post) would be most practical. If I tried to seal it in anything like a clear coat of paint, my luck would be that I would accidentally have it stick to paper or something and ruin it! Thank you for the suggestion. I'm guessing since there are many views and few responses that I am a weirdo and no one else thinks about sealing their tags. Ha ha! It's cool though. ^^ Thank you for your answers!

| No, I've always just replaced worn or scratched tags in the past but none of my Yorkies has ever had tags that got unsightly from wear. Some of my bigger dogs in the past have and just got new ones.

| They sell tags at PetSmart. You pay, then engrave them in a little machine in the front of their store. Those tags come with a clear piece of sticky vinyl that is pre-cut and sized for the tag you have purchased. I'm sure you could use vinyl, screen protector sheets like they sell for iPads and cell phones. If it doesn't stick right, then just dab a tiny drop of clear glue.

| I've never used them, but tag silencers also say they help with this problem. ID Tag Silencer / Protector : Athletic Pets I wouldn't use nail polish, it'll probably chip off and might take the color with it. I painted the tops of my keys with colored nail polish and it didn't last long. |

| You could always use Rustoleum's clear coat, just put the tag on some cardboard and do one side at a time. I never worried about the tags getting scratched with my old girl, Megan, but will do something like this with my new puppy Gina. Cheers Quad |
