| Oneies instead of e-collar Who ever thought of putting oneies on our Yorkies was a Genius! As you know my Chloe was Spay yesterday. I read in a few threads about putting Oneies on instead of the e-collar. I purchased the Carter's brand newborn size 5-8lbs and all I did was cut a 4 inch round hole and zigzaged around it. Took about 2mins nothing fancy and Chloe is able to pee and poop keeping them on. They are kinda cute and look like pajamas. I know alot of you folks make the oneies into dresses. I think I might try that after she is healed. |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I know I think this is so much better than an e-collar, Joey always seemed miserable in an collar. You did a great job and Chloe looks so adorable in her little jammies. Another plus is you can't bath them for a couple of week, but you can always wash their pj's!

| Oh poor Chloe, she looks so cute in her onesie, how is she feeling. I wish I would have know about that prior to having Lola spayed. The e collar had her so distressed that she would not move or drink water, she just stood with her head down facing the corner of what ever room she was in, she looked like a little dunce. At that point I could not leave her to go out driving around looking for premie onesies, the regulars were to big. I wound up using a puppy diaper and a dog tee shirt and then duck taping them in the center, it worked great but was a PITA to keep undoing it since she was also being potty trained. After coming back in from going potty, I put the outfit back on but just before duck taping it I got a business call, when the call was finished I see her lying in her bed with diaper on floor and almost all the stitches out. It had been just under a week. I took her to the vet who on the phone told me she might have to staple the incision but thankfully when she saw her, said it was in good shape and healed to the point it would not open up. I told my vet about wanting a onesie, at that point I did not have a sewing machine, but I think if someone wanted to get a business going they could make these and sell them to vet offices for at least the smaller dogs. Jan make sure to watch her closely because if she is like Lola she might find a way to get her tongue under the back leg opening. I think if I needed to cover an incision again, for safety sake I might go with a long legged version, if they make them.

| Mina wore onesies as well, but I didnt cut anything out. I just put her tail between the snapes. When she needed to go out,I just unsnapped the onesie and rolled it up around her tummy. Then snapped it back after she was done. |

| She looks adorable. I also like Nancy's thought about washing the onesie since you can't bathe them for 2 weeks

| I did the same thing. I'd be worried that cutting the material to allow pottying, would also allow her access to the incision site.

| She is so cute and looks comfy. I'm glad she's doing so well. I even cut the botton of the onsie off for a shirt. Chloe loves her like that.

| It really is a great idea! The one thing I loved about the vet that spayed Mandie (really the only thing lol) was that they were anti-ecollar. They really feel it is cruel to the animal and unless it is absolutely necessary, they said not to use a collar. I like that hot rod's mom (where is she these days anyway?) makes the kiss e collars (soft e collars). I could never get to a store to find a onsie the right size for Mandie so I just used a long tshirt for her. It worked in her case but I kept an eye on her all the time. You should market those and sell them here. That is a very good job! I wouldn't worry (as mentioned above) about the hole for pottying allowing access to lick. I think if you make the hole the correct size, it would be almost impossible to lick. I think I'd worry more without the potty hole...that she might not be able to hold it or I didn't get her to the potty pad quick enough. Then, she would pee and/or poop herself in the onsie. Ick. lol

| Aww, she is adorable and looks great!! How is she doing? Whenever I got my girls spayed I too would use a onesie. I also have a few kiss-e-collars so I would alternate between the collar and the onesie. The collars are really nice as they don't seem to mind them but they would get wet anytime they went and got a drink. I was too afraid to cut a whole in the onesies because I thought it would give them easier access to the incision so I just left the middle snap open and put their tail through that. When I took them to potty or could really watch them, I just unsnapped it and rolled it up. It worked out great. I did have a hard time finding one small enough though for my Lillie. Even the premie ones were too big. Luckily though I found a baby doll's bathing suit (no idea why I still had it) but it worked out perfect. I cut a hole in it for her tail and it fit her perfectly. I guess a little creativity goes a long way.

| She looks so cute in her onesie! I have 3 onesies (newborn) that are too small. They've never been worn, I just bought them too small & ripped all the tags off before trying them on. I'd be happy to send them to you if you want them. They've been sitting in a drawer for about a month. I'll snap a pic of them & post so you can see.

| When Rufus was spayed the vet gave us two options, the e-collar or the onesie and we chose the onesie.. Many years ago, one of our dobermans had to wear a collar but he seemed so sad.. don't really like the collars but I think it's gonna be hard to put a onesie on a big dog

| gotta luv onesies I've been using onesies for my little guy at bedtime. He's old now and incontinent. I put on a mans small depend underneath, and a onesie on top and sort of a small pin here and there to keep it in place. He's become so relaxed. I think he felt embarrassed all the time making messes, and now he's calm and gets his much needed rest, and so do we. He's ten pounds and he wears 12 month old size. My husband and I feel like we have a little baby. Gotta kiss-em-up after they get their pj's on you know. If I ever get a female, that will be a great thing at spay time! |
