I practice any new techniques on an old piece of bedsheet first. Finny's dress is made from a not so old pair of PJ's, lol. I cut the legs off the PJs and will hem them to make shorts (for me), lol. I buy clothing that catches my eye at the thrift store, to use for making dog clothes, and hit the sales in the baby dept at WalMart and Target for infant clothing that can be easily altered to fit. I bought a little girls dress at Kohl's, and it came with a small dress for a babydoll... lol, yes it fits Sapphire! And I have enough material to make 2 more matching dresses for my other 2 girls. I bought a ton of patterns on Ebay... (yes, I got that one too, lol, but I haven't tried it yet!). I haven't sewn for years, I'm just getting back into it (for my doggies, of course!). I also bought and refurbished an old treadle sewing machine, an 1896 Singer model... and I'm trying to learn how to sew on it, lol! TDF Sunflowers.jpg This pic inspired Peek a Boo's TDF outfit. FB4.JPG This is a 3-6 months infant cheerleaders outfit I got for $5 at WalMart and altered it. IMG_0340.JPG This is the 'before/during' pic of the sewing machine head and the cabinet drawers. IMG_0338.JPG This is the 'before' pic of the 1896 machine cabinet. Be careful, sewing is very addictive! You shouldn't have any problem at all, seriously. If you do, just holler... lol! Good luck with your class.

| Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | I ordered the pattern on Etsy. It was the only one she had. I paid $17 (plus $2 shipping) for it, which is a little higher, but it is a discontinued pattern. Here it is on Amazon: Kathy...what a beautiful sewing machine! My Mom has one sort of like that. It belonged to her great grandmother. She did use it when I was smaller but I am not sure if it is still in working order or not. I need to ask her. I would love to have it in my own home one day.

With my new antique machine, it gives me a sense of control, knowing I can sew when the power goes out, by candlelight, lol! The only drawback is that it doesn't have 'reverse'. It doesn't zigzag either, but I bought an attachment that does. The most it needed was a good cleaning and some fresh oil.... now it's running great!

| I cant use a pattern to save my life..... I can look at an already made dress or harness and make one from it, but the patterns confuse me. I have that same pattern and I hate it! (the first one you posted) If Katie scarlett is like Allie, you'll have to adjust it. The sizing on it's a little odd.

| I think I bought a belt off Ebay, but the guy has a repair/parts shop in Texas! It was only $4 or $7, I can't remember now, I bought two, just in case, lol. I'll look for the receipt and give you the info, if I can find it. Going to look now....
