Kathy...Wow! You did a fabulous job! And I love how you altered it to fit your needs! Way to go!
I found another pattern that I ordered. LOL. It is a out of print pattern but it was too cute. I first saw it on Amazon, but found it cheaper on Etsy. I think I will try this one after I get the first one down. |
Thanks! I also altered Infinity's dress to have a band around the neck and another around the ribs, instead of the T shaped thing the pattern calls for. (PITB and uses alot of velcro which is horrible to sew on). Peek's Tour de France outfit was made with the T thing. It fits him nice, but for long coated dogs, the less velcro the better, for me anyway, lol, I get more hair stuck in the stuff than anything.
I practice any new techniques on an old piece of bedsheet first. Finny's dress is made from a not so old pair of PJ's, lol. I cut the legs off the PJs and will hem them to make shorts (for me), lol. I buy clothing that catches my eye at the thrift store, to use for making dog clothes, and hit the sales in the baby dept at WalMart and Target for infant clothing that can be easily altered to fit. I bought a little girls dress at Kohl's, and it came with a small dress for a babydoll... lol, yes it fits Sapphire! And I have enough material to make 2 more matching dresses for my other 2 girls.
I bought a ton of patterns on Ebay... (yes, I got that one too, lol, but I haven't tried it yet!). I haven't sewn for years, I'm just getting back into it (for my doggies, of course!). I also bought and refurbished an old treadle sewing machine, an 1896 Singer model... and I'm trying to learn how to sew on it, lol!

Be careful, sewing is very addictive! You shouldn't have any problem at all, seriously. If you do, just holler... lol! Good luck with your class.
