I totally agree! I guess I'm just shocked that someone is willing to support a breeder like this when they find out up front. That's what keeps breeders like that in business!
I agree though because there are so many that come here who want to avoid breeders like this at all costs and hopefully it will help the people who care!

If you afe not prt of the solution, you are part of the, problem.

Do you really think she is going to give out references from people who have had complaints .

I hope you have good luck with your puppy. Most puppy mill puppies are poorly bred with lots of issues.

Being clean and smelling nice is a minor issue. It's what you can't see that ends up costing you a small fortune.

As you yourself said most of the dogs in the shelters come from puppy mills. This is because they are poorly bred, and they will sell to anyone and do not care what happens to the dog after they sell it.

Good breeders will have in their contract that the dog must be returned to them if the owner can no longer keep it. Does this nice little old lady have that in her contract?

Once you posted on a public forum it did, indeed, become other people's "business".

Sorry, but I will not endorse or encourage anyone to purchase a puppy from a commercial breeder or puppymill ever.

I do hope you have some money saved for veterinary expenses....

Ladies, I think this is our cue to bow out. We shared what we could, but the OP has decided to learn the hard way. We must respect her decision. She wants a dog that will grow up with issues, then so be it. FYI, OP a dog from a kennel has issues.

Meghan, I pray to God your baby ends up being happy and healthy. I hope he/she is everything you wanted her to be. I also hope you have a nice big savings account for your new baby. Even a happy, healthy, and well socialized yorkie costs money, one from a place as what you described will cost even more. No, this is not opinon, there are statistics and plenty of posts in the sick and injured forum to back up my statement.

I also want you to know that although you are going about getting a puppy in the worst possible way, when you run into trouble, YT will be here to help you out.

One last thing, I'm a shelter volunteer with the spcaLA. None of "my" shelter dogs are ever smelly and gross. Nor do they live in teeny tiny kennels; when they stay with us while they wait for adoptions. I'm a groomer for them and I groom ALL the shelter dogs. No matter the size, breed, or coat type, they get washed, cut, and brushed so they can always look their best.

We are trying to save you from heartache, but if you don't care about us caring about you, then there is nothing else we can do. We still post and answer posts such as yours bc there are many people who just read and lurk and we do NOT want more people thinking that buying from this type of place is acceptable.

You are supporting a miller, and if she's not a miller, she at least a large scale back yard breeder. You are not saving that puppy, you are putting money in the miller's pocket so they can continue to exploit these beautiful innocent creatures.

So you already put money down on a pup, if you walk away now, that deposit will be a drop in the bucket of money lost compared to the vet bills it will accrue if it has any type of illness, and any illnesses or genetic conditions may not arise until later. Puppymill dogs can be ticking time bombs.

This lady is not going to put up upset customer testimonials, she's only gonna put up positive ones. Who even knows if they are true. Why don't you try the email thing someone suggested earlier, I really think it's a good idea. Why you believe every single thing this woman tells you and not us is beyond me. We are trying to help you. Like i said before, we are not trying to get your money, she is. She will say anything to you to get you to believe her so you can send her more money!

Even if a rescue/shelter dog came from a puppy mill originally, you are not lining the pockets of a known "greeder" - you are giving a home to an animal in need - a very different scenario than knowingly handing over your hard-earned money to a miller or BYB.

And not all rescues or shelter dogs are "ungroomed and smelly." In fact, if you were to look into a reputable rescue, I guarantee that they will be MUCH better taken care of than a dog from a puppy mill. My pup was a rescue. He was surrendered for being too hyperactive (code for his original owners were probably too busy or lazy to train him), lived in a loving foster home, and then came to me clean and in good health. He is the best dog I could have ever asked for.

IMO, I'd rather help out a forgotten, ungroomed and smelly pup from a rescue than support a miller. I just couldn't in good conscience give them my money for a puppy that will most likely be sick.

I wish you the best of luck with your new pup. It sounds like you've already made up your mind. I just wish you would listen to advice rather than brushing off the helpful information others have given you. It just might save you future heartbreak.

I've seen a really cute morkie at the dog park that was a really pretty ivory color.

Hey, it looks like your mind is made up. Please don't take offense! People here just love their dogs and can't imagine them being brought up in an environment which is not the best. I, can only say that you have been given a lot of information about this breeder, and a lot of people have gone out of their way to try and make you see just a little bit other than that very very cute morkie your heart is set on. Obviously, in the end, the decision to get this morkie is yours and not anyone elses. People here are just trying to be helpful, and really hate puppy mills and all that they stand for. They may just go about it a little too strong. Like I said before - don't take offense. Everyone in the end wants the best for this morkie - and for you.

Yes she does it says that in the contract if the puppy is no longer in a condition that it can still be your healthy pet within a year that she can take it back and refund it with a new puppy of the same breed no cost.

Within a year, that's it?! A good breeder will take the dog back at any point in the their lives. One year or 12 years. This person will only replace the puppy with another similarly [poorly] bred puppy if the original puppy can no longer be pet quality (whatever that means ). Think about it, you have a puppy for 6 months or so, and something happens to it, do you really think you can just give that puppy back and get a new one and have no sad feelings about it? You'll get attached to it, and most definitely would not give it back. And if you did? They put it down! They don't treat it, they simply kill it, it's cheaper.

If they don't kill it, they lock it up in a cage for the rest of its life. My former foster yorkie Katie's [now] yorkie brother was locked in a cage for the most part of his first few years of life bc he had some missing toes and was thought of to not be worth any money bc of it. He was locked in his cage 24/7 and he has all but 2 teeth left from trying to bite out of his cage. He is only 3 yrs old. He was from a puppymill.

Again, probably not changing your mind, but just putting the info out there for others to learn if they so wish.

Perhaps you should take a look at some puppymill videos, see if that will open up your eyes.
