| Wanted: Female Morkie in CA We've finally decided on getting a Morkie due to their hypoallergenic and less-shed characteristic. And, they're too darn cute! I've been searching for breeders both online and through local newspapers and I've narrowed it down to a few breeders. But, I would love more recommendations, especially from those who currently own a Morkie. Are there any breeders on YT that have Morkie litters? I live in Northern California, so a breeder in California or its neighboring states is mostly preferred. But, any state would be fine, so long shipping is an option for you. Thanks! |

| Hi TurtleDove. You may want to check www.petfinder.com and look under Yorkies then Under Maltese. Really a Morkie is just a fancy word for a mixed breed of Yorkie and Maltese. Also, look in your local newspaper, this is where we found our Tia. She was bought then rehomed. Tia is 1/2 Maltese and 1/2 Yorkie. Be aware though that the one you may have seen does not guarantee that "YOUR" little one will look like that. Because they are a mix you really have no guarantee of what he or she will look like full grown. Tia is 4 lbs. and beautiful but I've seen others that are cute but look nothing like her and are much bigger. We got Tia when she was almost a year old so we had a good idea as to what she'd look like and her baby picture looked different then she actually turned out to be as an adult. It's a shame to "Buy" a mix from a breeder when there are so many looking for homes. If you go to www.puppymillrescue.com and read their article on "Designer Dogs" (This is what they call these mixes) I think it will really open your eyes. Best of luck in your search. Elaine |

| Yorkies are just as hypoallergenic and do not shed. Same with Maltese...They are also hypoallergenic and do not shed. I have one of each Morkies are just a mix of these two breeds. There's no guarantee on how they will look when they grow up. So, if you want a specific look, you might want to get an older one. Petfinder.com is a wonderful place to look. Just recently, one rescue organization had taken in a litter of little morkie pups, so I know they are out there. Young and old

| Thanks everyone. I was open to either a Yorkie or a Morkie, either one would have been wonderful for me! But, my boyfriend was the deciding factor, and he wanted the Morkie. Best of both [Maltese & Yorkie] worlds, I suppose! |

You will NOT find a reputable breeder that would intentionally breed mutts. You will only find bad breeders and puppymills, or hopefully an accidental litter. Good luck in your search, but I really hope you reconsider and get a healthy, happy, well bred yorkie or maltese puppy, or better yet, consider a "morkie" rescue.

| CALIFORNIACUDDLES.COM looks like a puppymill site at first glance, but I think its just a less than quality breeder. She's calling her puppies teacups, breeding for tiny size rather than standard, mixing breeds, and there are no parent pictures to be found. I don't doubt that she's a sweet woman...but wonderful breeder...Hmm.

Its just my opinion that a good breeder would breed to improve the yorkshire terrier breed according to the standard, rather than trying to shrink yorkies to "teacup" size. I don't think she's a puppymill either. She has a lot of the characteristics of a puppymill, but I think she's just "confused" about breeding. Some people breed for the money, and they don't even realize the damage and injustice they're doing to the breed.

I'm sorry but that was uncalled for. There's no need to interject comments to fuel the fire when they can work it out themselves.

| Can't we try to be nice on here the op was just asking if someone knew of anyone with morkies for sale, I understand that this is always a "HOT" topic but we are here to help not to put "your 2 cents in" if you don't have anything good to say then don't reply...If she stays on YT long enough and reads the threads she will learn all about breeders, but just because she wants something that everyone else doesn't consider acceptable doesn't mean you have to post about it.that is why this thread is called for sale and wanted..I wish you look in your search and hope you find what you are looking for a healthy, loving pup...

But there actually wasn't anything to work out. I made sure that Juicy Girl knew that I never meant any harm to her or her lovely yorkie, in both this thread and an apologetic pm.

Some people don't know the drawbacks that come along with "designer dogs." I didn't really know when I came here. I was considering a "morkie" too, but I was rudely awakened to the reality of intentionally making mutts. I just didn't want the OP to walk away thinking that we all condone mixing breeds for a profit. The posters before myself tried to hint this, but it wasn't really clear how emphatically most of us feel about mixing breeds. Thats why my first post was self-admittadly blunt... Honestly, I believe I stayed on topic for this thread, I let her know that it is nearly impossible to find a reputable breeder of mutts, but wished her luck in her search nonetheless...
