Your pictures maybe to large, try to resize, then try to attach them again.

I am breeding a small male to My female, that is best for the Female. ANd my Male makes little yorkies and so did his father and his father. I love all yorkies but I will have to say I like the little ones best. ANd I am sure so do a lot of yorkie loves out there. ANd that is just what I end up with. Tiny Baby that are healthy and full of Life and Joy.

I would just think if you are a reputable breeder you wouldn't breed just to get little yorkies. Afterall, if they are too small they don't really fall under what is considered standard. And isn't that suppose to be the goal of a reputable breeder - to breed to standard? Maybe I've been confused somewhere along the line. I'm sure many do prefer the tinier yorkies, but a reputable breeder still would breed to standard. Just because something may be popular and liked doesn't necessarily make it right?

Just because her male is 2-1/2 lbs and the female is 7 lbs doesn't mean the pup are all going to grow up to be tiny.
They can be any where in the 2-1/2 lb to 7 lb range.
You will not know until the dog is grown.
2 - 6 lb dogs can produce small or large pups.
It all depends on what's in the lines.
The only way to get close to carbon copies of the parents.. is if a person inbreeds.
IMO ..You may want to do a little research first before you question the way someone breeds. Even show breeder pups can and do go out of standard sometimes.
I might also add that the smallest pup can grow up to be the largest out of a litter.

Why wouldn't they be standard? Ther eis a difference between "standard" and "average." There is no minimum weight for the standard...just UNDER 7 pounds.

Although yes, I fully agree with you....I do NOT think people shoudl breed for extremely small dogs.

I read Jen's post as an interest in breeding to standard - from what I read in this thread ....it seems the emphasis is on the tinier the better ...and that part bothers me too - yorkies are tiny enough at standard weight.

I thought Show breeders strived to improve the line - which means staying within standard weights ???
