Just because her male is 2-1/2 lbs and the female is 7 lbs doesn't mean the pup are all going to grow up to be tiny.
They can be any where in the 2-1/2 lb to 7 lb range.
You will not know until the dog is grown.
2 - 6 lb dogs can produce small or large pups.
It all depends on what's in the lines.
The only way to get close to carbon copies of the parents.. is if a person inbreeds.
IMO ..You may want to do a little research first before you question the way someone breeds. Even show breeder pups can and do go out of standard sometimes.
I might also add that the smallest pup can grow up to be the largest out of a litter.
