| I haven't posted much lately either because I did get upset at how many times I felt that I was being looked down on because I like the smaller Yorkies. I actually was glad when my baby made it to 4 lbs at 8 months so I could come out of the closet. I, too, cringed when someone mentioned the word tiny or teacup because I knew they were going to be bombarded with negative posts. I cannot imagine how many people have left YT because of that one fact. Little Bit has always been perfectly healthy and I never had a minutes trouble with her even when she only weighed a lb. I'm sure there are extra responsibilities that come with a smaller baby but there are also people like me that are glad to accept them. But even if not breeding for tinies is your personal crusade, it could be done so much kinder with directness and information instead of backhanded questions. It also amazed me that those that accused others of not wanting a standard size Yorkie were usually ones that weren't aware or ignored the fact that there isn't a minimum weight for Yorkies. Apparently lots of people aren't "breeding to standard" or there wouldn't be so many larger Yorkies. I'm not down on the larger Yorkies either because I had one that fit that stage of my life when I had children at home but don't feel like I should have to defend enjoying my smaller Yorkie now. My personal animal crusade would be that 99% of us should have our pets spayed or neutered, not just the tinies. Although, I think we all agree that tiny Yorkie females should definitely not be bred, the hard facts are that most of our pets should not be bred. There are too many homeless and abandoned pets now. but of the Yorkies, most of those won't be the 3 lbers. The Yorkies found in the shelters are usually the larger ones. I believe a breeder should be prepared to be responsible for all the progeny of any dog that she breeds, not just the puppies that come from that breeding, but any future puppies produced from any of the puppies born in the original breeding. I don't know the figures but I'm sure they are appalling at how many dogs come from one original breeding in a 25 year period. Can you personally guarantee that all of those animals will be loved and cared for? |

| I have both 3#er's and 10-11#er's. I have been knocked around for having the larger sizes but I haven't spoken much about the small ones. I have just been watching and reading the posts. I have seen a lot of people getting slammed for wanting or having the small ones. Sylvia |

| I dont think anyone should be flamed because they own tinys or want tinys. I want one myself. I do think when someone says on here that they want a tiny someone should tell them they can become injured sometimes by something as simple as jumping off the couch and they can have a very high vet bill. We have someone on here right now that was considering putting their tiny to sleep because they cant afford the vet bill

| It is true that tinies can hurt themselves jumping off high places. I purchased steps for Little Bit to be able to get on the sofa & such -but then took them away because even though she used the steps to get up, sometimes she would still try to jump down. So now, she stays on the floor unless I pick her up and let her sit with me on the furniture and I always make sure to put her down rather than letting her jump. I don't think a tiny would be suitable for families with young children but Little Bit is just right for us. I hope that if someone is seriously considering having their tiny euthanized over the cost of the vet bills, they would either offer it to someone who is willing to get it the treatment it needs or turn it in to a rescue who can get it whatever medical care is needed. That situation would not be limited to tinies. There can be unhealthy or poorly bred dogs of any size or breed. |

| She is going to get it help now. There have been alot of tinies getting injured on here recently from falls and jumps. It makes me reconsider if I should get one or not

| It says a lot for your maturity that you are seriously considering rather or not you should have a tiny. I would be the last one to say that they are right for everybody. If you have young children and you constantly have to watch them with the puppy, the puppy may well add more stress than joy to your family. That probably is not fair to your children, yourself or the puppy. And, of course, the general health of the puppy is of paramount importance, much more than its size. No one wants to have an unhealthy dog of any size. I'm sure you will make the best decision for your family and any future pet you decide to add to it. |

| awe, daddy is cute! OK.. since everyone else is coming out of the closet.. I will too.. here goes... I love the tiny yorkies!!! I'm hoping that Ernie will be a 4-5 lber. His dad (3.5lber) was bred with an 8 lb mommy and they still had tiny babie. I hope The Ern is going to be smaller than Wookie.. Wook is a plumpy 8.6 lbs. He sure likes his treats |
