It is true that tinies can hurt themselves jumping off high places. I purchased steps for Little Bit to be able to get on the sofa & such -but then took them away because even though she used the steps to get up, sometimes she would still try to jump down. So now, she stays on the floor unless I pick her up and let her sit with me on the furniture and I always make sure to put her down rather than letting her jump. I don't think a tiny would be suitable for families with young children but Little Bit is just right for us.
I hope that if someone is seriously considering having their tiny euthanized over the cost of the vet bills, they would either offer it to someone who is willing to get it the treatment it needs or turn it in to a rescue who can get it whatever medical care is needed. That situation would not be limited to tinies. There can be unhealthy or poorly bred dogs of any size or breed. |
