Default I love the tinies too.

I haven't posted much lately either because I did get upset at how many times I felt that I was being looked down on because I like the smaller Yorkies. I actually was glad when my baby made it to 4 lbs at 8 months so I could come out of the closet.

I, too, cringed when someone mentioned the word tiny or teacup because I knew they were going to be bombarded with negative posts. I cannot imagine how many people have left YT because of that one fact.

Little Bit has always been perfectly healthy and I never had a minutes trouble with her even when she only weighed a lb. I'm sure there are extra responsibilities that come with a smaller baby but there are also people like me that are glad to accept them.

But even if not breeding for tinies is your personal crusade, it could be done so much kinder with directness and information instead of backhanded questions.

It also amazed me that those that accused others of not wanting a standard size Yorkie were usually ones that weren't aware or ignored the fact that there isn't a minimum weight for Yorkies. Apparently lots of people aren't "breeding to standard" or there wouldn't be so many larger Yorkies.

I'm not down on the larger Yorkies either because I had one that fit that stage of my life when I had children at home but don't feel like I should have to defend enjoying my smaller Yorkie now.

My personal animal crusade would be that 99% of us should have our pets spayed or neutered, not just the tinies. Although, I think we all agree that tiny Yorkie females should definitely not be bred, the hard facts are that most of our pets should not be bred. There are too many homeless and abandoned pets now. but of the Yorkies, most of those won't be the 3 lbers. The Yorkies found in the shelters are usually the larger ones.

I believe a breeder should be prepared to be responsible for all the progeny of any dog that she breeds, not just the puppies that come from that breeding, but any future puppies produced from any of the puppies born in the original breeding.

I don't know the figures but I'm sure they are appalling at how many dogs come from one original breeding in a 25 year period. Can you personally guarantee that all of those animals will be loved and cared for?
