| Why don't you check out some shelters where you could adopt a yorkie from? Also keep in mind, that vet bills and other expenses for owning a dog can be expensive. If you can't afford the $800 right now for a yorkie, maybe try saving up some money, then use some for the dog and keep the rest of it saved for other puppy expenses. The price you pay for the pup is nothing compared to what you will be spending on the pup! I'm not trying to sound discouraging or anything, I just want you to be aware

Donating YT 11K Club Member | Well I've seen yorkies for sale less then $800 but that's because they will be bigger in size, does size matter for you? Also you need to think about the vet, food expenses, etc. When I bought Teddy I didn't even think about the vet bills but I ended up paying hundreds so far in vet bills and more in clothes and toys cause I like to spoil him lol |

| The day I picked up my Teddy Bear I spent another 150.00 between Petco and Walmart just buying him everything he needed (including of course all the stuff I thought he would think he needed! LOL) Just be sure you can handle all the everyday stuff and have some in savings or on a credit card for medical emergencies...they will happen. Good luck, Kim and Teddy |

| Please see the sticky at the top of this section: "We do not allow begging for free puppies or puppies at extreme reduced costs. Feel free to PM sellers with an offer, but the public forum is not a place to beg or whine for a Yorkie." |

| I wanted a yorkie when I was between 18 and 19 years old...I just got one this year and I'm 35. Yes, they are expensive but they are definately worth it. Start saving, it'll be good for you Remember, don't be scammed by the cheaper yorkies you see online. If it sounds too good to be true, it is. A reputable breeder will not give you a yorkie because you really want one and can't afford to pay what they're costing(beware of one that will). Also, if it sounds too expensive for the norm, watch out for that also(they should not be $5,000-$8,000 for pet quality). There are lots of costs with owning any dog, and it's totally worth it to take an obedience class with your new puppy when you get it. Start with a change jar and put any extra cash you have in it. Skip an extra fast food meal or use your bottle return money to just throw in there. It may take awhile but it really should because a pet can live 15 years. Good luck in your savings and search.

| Another thought is applying through rescue. So many dogs not just Yorkies need homes. Lastly, I'll just reiterate what everyone else has already said; The initial cost in obtaining a Yorkies is NOTHING as compared to the cost of upkeep. They are high maintance dogs. Yorkies are prone to bad teeth and need their teeth cleaned yearly through a vet, which will run a minimum of $250. There is also the expense of shots, heartworm preventative, etc and spay/neuter. Grooming is another expense and can run you $50 or more every six weeks. Lastly, Yorkies are not for everyone. Yes, they are adorable but they are not the easiest dog to train. Smart but stubborn and some NEVER potty train. Please, think before you act and if you do decide that you can provide the time and cost involved with owning a Yorkie, please consider rescue. | Hi, Welcome to Yorkie Talk! Maybe what you could do is put a small deposit on a litter that is not yet born and then make payments until they were ready to go. That would give you at least 3 1/2 months or more to pay completely. Hope this helps and I hope you get the yorkie puppy of your dreams soon!

There are many threads on this forum about the overwhelming responsibility and advice sought after because the puppy was not quite as easy as it was thought. THis is a huge responsibility. Start by being responsible to save up the purchase price and at least another $500 for stuff and emergencies. | |

| Welcome! Please keep in mind how expensive the upkeep of a pet is. Vet checks, high quality food, and so much more! As someone else stated, before I even bought Bella I had purchased almost $200.00 worth of stuff I knew I'd need (crate, puppy pads, cleaners, toys, food, treats, etc) for her. Good luck! |
