| I would suggest checking ytca.org for reputable breeders in your area. There are some "stickies" at the top of this forum of what to look for and stay away from in breeders. Great advice is to "buy your breeder first" because you don't want to buy from a puppy mill or BYB. I would suggest researching any breeder you find or any breeder that might contact you. Good luck!

| Hi there I am a yorkie breeder and live on the Eastern Shore of Maryland...you can find me on American Kennel Club breeder referral site. My web site is Nikisyorkies2.com All my puppies are AKC and come with a 1 year health guarantee pee pad trained |

No Longer a Member | Nikis2, just a recommendation for your website, any percentages used should be linked to the location in which you got the information, because if it can be proved otherwise it will make you look bad. I see where your heart is at, but don't give false information for obvious reasons. I'm not arguing that byb/mills produce unhealthy pups, but don't state facts without having evidence to back it up... 90% of these puppies are sickly and have internal defects.....CHEAP means just that....poor quality! I recommend stating that many of these puppies, or most of these puppies since I'm sure there is no way to actually track the exact number of puppies as mills produce an ungodly ammount of pups, as well as byb's. Just a suggestion, but otherwise a very easy to navigate and informative site. |

There is also some great information in the Yorkie Talk Library on how to find a reputable breeder, as well as what is known as "stickies" listed in the yorkies wanted and for sale forum. You have some great breeders in the Tri State Area.

| If you can afford a puppy from one of the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America members that would be great. Cathy, Bev and Heiddy are great breeders and all my Mommy's are from their lines. They have beautiful dogs and I would love to be able to afford another one myself. Thanks for the information on my web site I will contact the lady that runs it for me and pass your suggestions on. Thank you and best of luck in finding your new fur baby. As everyone has stressed over and over do your homework. It is not about the initial cost of buying a puppy it is about the longevity, personality, health and over all look of the puppy. |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | I just want to direct you to this thread: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...christmas.html Please consider your timing of a puppy purchase. Good breeders will caution you that the Holidays are not the best time to bring a puppy in to the house.

| OMG! You guys beat things to the ground. Any time is a great time to buy a puppy if you are a responsible pet owner. I cannot remember my house without a puppy in it for the Holidays and it wouldn't be the same without one. As far as price goes you are absolutely correct. They are exstremely resonable priced if you can afford one. I have been breeding Yorkies for almost 30 years and over 90% of the calls I get are for people that want to spend $600. or less for a puppy no matter how beautiful, heathy, whatever. I know what Bev and Heiddy charge for a puppy as I said all my Mother's are from their lines. If you g oto my website you can see the pedigrees. Most people just do not have that kind of money to spend on a nice puppy, but it certainly doesn't mean they can't try. Happy Holidays to you all! |

Personally for myself an experienced dog owner I would never bring in to my household at Xmas time a new puppy. I don't want to be distracted by my social obligations warring with being there for my new puppy.
