I'm not trying to be rude at all, because I totally love and respect your posts, and I love your doggies, but I think $900 is a little much for a rescue/re-home? There's tons of yorkies that are housetrained, neutered and UTD in the shelters around here for $350 or less. I just didn't know if there was another reason for charging so much, if he had an operation or something. I'm not trying to be rude, I promise, I'm just wondering why the price is so high. Either way, Peanut is adorable and I'm sure he will find a good home soon.

Peanut wasn't surrendered to me and he wasn't free. The price I am asking is less than what I have invested in his rescue, neutering, oral surgery and getting his vaccinations brought up to date. I realize there are dogs for much less in shelters but I wasn't given a discount or low cost neuter and Peanut was chriptorchid...he also required oral surgery with stitches and not just a cleaning as he had a very bad abccessed/infected tooth from his puppy teeth not being removed when they should have been long before he was 1 1/2...I also wasn't given free vaccinations. I did ask if there was a discount available since I rescued and planned to rehome him but there wasn't since I don't belong to an official rescue organization so I did the right thing at my own expense and had those things done for him before trying to find his new family.

I have nothing at all against shelter dogs but they get their dogs for free and their services are provided at a discount or for free or paid for by donations from the public so they are able to adopt them for less...which is great.

I saw Peanut was in need and I acted...much the same as some members on YT would have done. If that makes me wrong then I guess I was wrong but no matter what anyone says...I don't regret doing it.

Just reading through all these posts....Actually, rescues spend thousands of dollars, on some pups, but only get a nominal fee for adoption...Also, many people, in rescue, dig into their own pockets, when they need to, to take care of these little ones, if there isn't enough in the funds, to do so...I know this, first hand, because I know a woman, in rescue, who does this...I don't think anyone, or any organization, ever gets all the money, invested in the pup, back...Then I guess it wouldn't be a rescue, it would be a sale...

Peanut is just the most beautiful little boy! Difficult to believe that he has not found his furever home yet.

I think it is marvelous of you to look after his welfare by rehoming him. As someone else stated rescues dig into their own pockets for health care etc. before placing their little ones but you are not a rescue...just someone who cares, trying to do the right thing. It is difficult enough to let one go when you care. I personally was looking into adopting a rescue and the price was $600.00 for a healthy, young pup/adult (both were under a year old). The explanation I received from the group was that they charge more for healthy pups to compensate for the $ put into the ones that have serious med problems. Since you have already spent so much on getting this little guy ready I wouldn't choose just anyone for a home either. Charging money and taking applications insures that the right home will come along and the adoptees will be serious. The price may be high but what of the rewards?

Keep trying. The right people/person will come along.

I so agree with this. OP....like you I rescued a poodle two years ago. This was a rescue I took on myself, not affiliated with any rescue I work with normally. I've waited for the perfect person, had numerous people wanting him, but just never felt comfortable with the people. We even tried to give him to a relative that had show poodles in the past, but they were retiring and staying away from any new dogs.

Now finally after this long the perfect couple has come along and if I were going to give up this poodle it would be to this couple. But, Louis has now become like a member of our family and I'm struggling with the decision to give him up. Knowing he would go to this couple though, I would never worry about him. I've got to convince my heart, my head will make the best decision for him.

Thank you Kim and Donna...I will hang in there until the right home is found. Peanut is no trouble and I enjoy having him around He is really bonding to me though so it would be nice to find his forever family so he can bond with them.

awwww I just love Peanut! I have 2 boys already and they are bigger than peanut so I don't think I'd be the right home for him. I just wanted to tell you how cute he is!
