I so agree with this. OP....like you I rescued a poodle two years ago. This was a rescue I took on myself, not affiliated with any rescue I work with normally. I've waited for the perfect person, had numerous people wanting him, but just never felt comfortable with the people. We even tried to give him to a relative that had show poodles in the past, but they were retiring and staying away from any new dogs.
Now finally after this long the perfect couple has come along and if I were going to give up this poodle it would be to this couple. But, Louis has now become like a member of our family and I'm struggling with the decision to give him up. Knowing he would go to this couple though, I would never worry about him. I've got to convince my heart, my head will make the best decision for him.
