| tried so hard to be a dog person. :( Yorkiepoo in Brook Park, Ohio 1. Your name - Shari Dippong 2. Your city, state: Brook Park, Ohio (near cleveland) 3. Your phone number: 216-392-6023 (my cell) 4. Your email address: shari31373@yahoo.com 5. Yorkie(s) For Sale: Smokey, male, black, with curly black hair 6. Birthdate of Yorkie(s): unsure... adopted him off craigslist, thinking he was born in late march, from what the owner said. 7. Age of Yorkie(s): about 1 year old 8. Weight of Yorkie(s) parents: not sure, mom was a small poodle, but i never saw pictures 9. Current weight of Yorkie(s) for sale: about 11 lbs 10. Registration if any (AKC, etc): none 11. Price: 100.00 12. When puppies will be ready to be taken home: n/a 13. Do you ship your Yorkies: no 14. Any additional information you want to add: I am offering Smokey to a loving family that understands yorkies... He's a mix, yorkie and poodle, he looks poodle, and acts yorkie. He has had his all his vacs, and his year booster, and rabies, and all that at the VCA animal hospital in Middleburg Heights. he's not neutered. i just put a "revolution" on him last week. he's a one woman dog. he has attached himself to me, and is my little shadow. he tries to please, but i'm not consistent in training him, so i'm sure the potty training, and other behavior issues would sort themselves out quite easily with a consistent dog savvy owner. he's been getting along ok with my boys, but he gets really excited and nips them sometimes. he's tentative around my husband, and barks a lot at him. i feel so badly, i've never been a dog person, but got it in my head that we needed a dog for the boys and for my husband. i rescued a yorkie a while ago (charlie), and thought that our issues with him were because of his age, so when i saw smokey, i thought he'd be fine for us. but i'm realizing that it's just us. i've spent so much money on him getting him the rascal dog litter box, and all the toys, and bed, and clothes, etc, hoping my feelings would change. but i just can't do it. thank you all so much for everything. you've all been so great to me.

| Dogs can be annoying, especially if your not used to them. My advise is to hire a profesional dog trainer you will have a well behave dog to love even more.

| I'm glad to hear you are going to try and work it out. I agree with the others, maybe get some training, either one on one or at your local petsmart/petco. Hopefully, everything will fall into place. You definitely don't want him feeling your tense or anxious energy because believe me, they can. Good luck to you!

we have an appointment for a neuter at the end of the month. that will help with the marking, and agression, i can't say aggression really, but when he's playing with giddy, my toddler, he gets riled, and sometimes nips. and i do need to get to at least the petsmart training courses. i have no clue how to really train him.

| I hope you choose to keep him. All animals deserve a second chance. If your having these second thought then obviously the little one has already grown on you. Good luck. Hope everything works out for the best. =]

| I would do a couple of in-home sessions with a trainer if you can - I think you can cut to the chase and get right to the exact way to train this dog so that you can keep him with you guys. If you cant do that, then Petsmart may be a good option depending on the trainer. I'd talk to that person first. I hope you can find a good working relationship with your Smokey and keep him It sounds like you love him even if he is a pain sometimes!

| Time outs worked wondered for my boy's aggression. We have a time out crate and anytime he gets too worked up, that's where he goes. It's in another room and I close the door, so he's all alone and away from me which he can't stand. After 10 minutes or so, I let him out (depending on how mad I am, lol). After about 3 months of consistently doing this, he eventually learned that everytime he gets aggressive, he gets locked away all alone, and he doesn't like it one bit. We went from using the crate once a week, to once a month, and now he hasn't been in there for at least 3 months. I can just threaten "you're going to go in your crate!!!" and he stops, lol. People always look at me funny when I say I give my dog time outs, but it's worked! Good luck with your boy, I am glad you've decided to keep him.

| Yes I agree and consistency is extremely important. Put a belly band on him. Getting him fixed is key in potty training him quicker. It took my guy a long time to stop marking his property! |
