Time outs worked wondered for my boy's aggression. We have a time out crate and anytime he gets too worked up, that's where he goes. It's in another room and I close the door, so he's all alone and away from me which he can't stand. After 10 minutes or so, I let him out (depending on how mad I am, lol). After about 3 months of consistently doing this, he eventually learned that everytime he gets aggressive, he gets locked away all alone, and he doesn't like it one bit. We went from using the crate once a week, to once a month, and now he hasn't been in there for at least 3 months. I can just threaten "you're going to go in your crate!!!" and he stops, lol. People always look at me funny when I say I give my dog time outs, but it's worked!
Good luck with your boy, I am glad you've decided to keep him.
