Hello all, hope everyones is enjoying their Friday..... I was looking to becoming a yorkie owner, I found one in my area fairly cheap @ $300.00, The women selling this pup seems nice, it is only two weeks old today, but here is the kicker.... her girl only had 1 pup.... that's it.... the other's didn't die or anything, she just had one pup.... it is not registered, went to the vet on Wed, everything is okay... I am just curious if this is unusual, for a litter...???? Thanks everyone!!

Hi Cindy, a Yorkie Bab can make your world go round with smiles and laugher. You are look for a puppy...$300. is cheep but you did say with the NO papers. I would be a little careful, did you see the mom and dad? The puppy will look much like them.As having one pup, that is normal for small dogs. You can only have one pup or sometimes four, not very big litters. I'm going to breed Sweetie and I hope she will have a small litter.

well, thanks all for the input.. I was just a little worried. I am usually very careful but I am a sucker for any types of puppies... I already have 3 doggies...1.American Stafford Terrier(boy - Peanut ..he is sooooo cuddly) 2. Mini Scnauzer(Mia- mamma's girl) 3. American Cocker Spaniel (Buff color- daisy) All of my pups are going to be a year this year in the same order, Peanut is this month and Mia November 29th and daisy is in December... Ohh yea and I have Tommy, my little persian kitty....(5-6 mo) so this will be my LAST pup.. I solemnly swear!!! But I want a little one.. to play with my Tommy (kitty)... so as you can tell.. I am trying not to spend too much on another pup, if possible, so this offer sounded good, but I wanted input on it. Hopefully everything turns out good.... I am anxiously waiting for her to call me so i can go see this pup(boy) and give her a deposit given that his so small of course...... any ideas on names girls? Oh and gents. too(Sorry )??????

That is normal and common. My mom's yorkie only had 1 pup. He was huge and had to have help out by the emergency vet. She was huge, we thought she would have 2 or 3 but was just one big ole healthy pup in that tummy.

I don't think is it unusual. There is lots to learn on here and you can find a list of questions you will want to ask the breeder etc. It is smart to come here and research.

It is not uncommon for your smaller breed of dogs to have smaller litters - one is not uncommon for yorkies. What is uncommon is to have large litters. T.

Not unusual at all to have 1 puppy. A lot of time one puppy is too large for the mom to free whelp and she needs a c-section. The breeder has to pay the surgery fee and the one puppy might not be quality so it is placed at a very low price or given to family members. Reg. papers do not make the puppy so don't worry about papers unless you are willing to pay for the litter reg and then your puppy. Non-papered babies are just as loving so take that baby and enjoy her..

				   | I had a litter of 1 pup in May. The mama had 7 her previous litter!!! I did not understand it either. He was a fat boy, but luckily she had him on her own w/no complications. I went in in the around 5 in the morning to check on her and she had him nursing already. I guess these things just happen sometimes. My sisters lab had 2 litters of just 1 pup and she had previously whelped up to 12!

most small yorkies have only one to three puppy, three if your lucky. just having one is not unheard of and happens alot with small breeds. I bet its health. Its easyer on the mommy if she has more them one, the puppy are born smaller. One can be some times too big for or hard for a small female to give brith to. be sure to ask to see the mommy and daddy. Good luck
