looking for yorkie in MA Hello, I'm looking for a yorkie, preferably female, but I wouldn't mind a male. I live just north of Boston, MA and would love to be able to see and play with the pup before buying it. I am a true believer that the puppy will pick its owner as much as the owner will pick the pup. I have found one breeder in particular who I like very much, but the price is a bit high. I figured it wouldn't hurt to see if there is anyone else out there who may know of a breeder. Thanks!

Thanks. I was supposed to go there yesterday but Susan wasn't feeling well. I think I'm just going to stick with the other breeder.

i also lived in MA Hi, I live in northern MA too and I recently purchase a Yorkie from a breeder in NH whose price was fair (less than 1k). If you haven't bought your Yorkie yet and is interested on the breeder that I got my baby from just let me know. Happy Thanksgiving!

The two breeders I am currently dealing with are Susan Dodge of Clover Hill Pups in Lawrence and Cathy Cadia of Shenanigan's in Billerica. Both seem very nice.

I have heard wonderful things about Shenanigans and Clover Hill. I will probably buy my future pup from either breeder. Do you know if they each have wait lists? Also, was there any mention of price? Kristen

Shenanigans starts at $1900 and Clover Hill is anywhere from $1300 - $1900, don't quote me though, as I'm sure these change depending on size, color, etc. I know Shenanigans has a list, I don't think Clover Hill does because I was told I could pick from the entire litter of 7. Shenanigans is starting to show the puppies in the upcoming weeks and I'm going to Clover Hill on Thanksgiving. Last edited by t1771; 11-25-2008 at 04:45 PM.

That sounds reasonable. About what I thought they might be. These little dogs are pricey, but I suppose they want to make sure you can afford to take care of them. Please let us know how it goes at Clover Hill when you go to look. Good luck- so exciting! Kristen

update Hi everyone, I met with Susan and her husband today, they are both very nice. My Mom and I fell in love with a little female pup, but I need some advice. Susan has two litters: 1 litter is on the smaller side and their dad Nicki has a little teddy bear face (which I LOVE) and seems to have a great personality, but the mom Heidi bites people. The other litter has pups on the larger size, one of these pups is the one I loved. However, both of her parents didn't have the best coat and neither had a teddy bear face, they did however have great temperments. The dad of these pups had his vocal cords cut and Susan didn't find out about this until he was on the plain being shipped to her. I'm a little worried about the fact the parents were shipped in, but so far everyone else who has pups from her has had nothing but good things to say. So now what do I do?!?!? Do I go with the little girl I liked, do I go with one from the teddy bear dad litter with the mean mom or do I wait to see the other litter at Shenanigans? Cathy at Shenanigans isn't showing her pups until Dec 12th. I have no idea what the parents look like, but I know they are mild mannered, they're quiet and they are show dogs with amazing coats. Any advice???

| oh dear...well to preface my opinion i know nothing about either breeder you are interested in, but the fact you are asking our opinion kind of tells me you have doubts or reservations...to be honest, based on what you said about both litters, i would pass on both...i would hate for you to feel like you are "settling" when your baby is going to be a part of your family for many many years to come...IMO you should keep looking - the perfect pup is out there for you
