Oooo, this thread has gotten all interestin'. Lovin' the convo. Chachi...that's similar to how I make choices too...there are SO many products/things to buy out there in the world...and if I can find one that has less negative effects on other living creatures, I feel more comfortable buying those things. Small decisions like this add up, I think.

As far as emu oil. I agree to kill an animal to treat another animal is a bit much, but the emus are killed for their meat, the oil is a byproduct. What I was saying if you eat meat how is the oil different? That is just me.. and I don't know the answer for anyone, not even me at times If there is a non animal product that works that MAY be the better choice. |
I see what you're saying
. I do see it a bit differently - I do wish we (as humans) would work toward slaughtering less animals overall...whether it's cows, dogs, emus, cattle, cats, horses, chicken or whatnot. I'm not saying 'outlaw' meat, I just wish we chose to have a better diet overall, w/ less animal product. Like emu oil, leather too is a by-product, but I don't necessarily feel that makes leather a non-cruel product or a product that gets a cruelty-fee pass bc it's a by-product of animal slaughter. I own leather things, but the last several years I try to buy non-leather as much as I can...bc of the cruelty in footage from slaughter facilities. It's a small choice, and an easy one for me to accommodate.

Small changes can have big results, I agree
. Every small thing we do is meaningful.
I like these kinds of discussions, and I'm glad no one is pouncing on anyone over the subject. I never want to come off as "don't eat meat", but I do believe in working toward being cruelty-free in all/any areas or products or animal testing, wherever we can.
