| PLEASE!!!!! post pics of before(puppy) and after (adult) I have a problem child, her hair is weird she is 5 mths old and has a weird coat some of it is long and silky( mostly in the hind quarters) but thin. and the upper half of her looks like she has been cut down but the short hair is thick and silky. but she "looks" wirey. i just got her the other day and i was hoping to get a potential show dog, or have the ability to produce one. all the books suggest avoiding the fluffy puppy and going for the sleeker one she is pretty sleek LOL!!! i would like to know if other people have had a dog like this an what it turned out like, Please help

| First off, stop panicking...............lol Your baby is absolutely stunning, and as many others have mentioned in your other posts....................he might be a slow growing silky coat. Mine is about the same age and looks no different in coat as yours. I know he may not be beautiful to others, but to ME he is absolutely drop dead gorgeous. No one could tell me otherwise.............lol His parents both have silky coats and are stunning. Be patient, your furball will grow a beautiful coat soon! Looking forward to YT members showing before and after pics too...........I love pics!!

My furkids Donating Member | I have 2 yorkie girls from the same breeder, different parents. Sadie is 2 1/2 yrs old and Lillie is 17 wks old...They didn't even come CLOSE to looking the same..Sadie (I got at 6 wks old....I know....wayyyy to young) and her coat was shorter...I actually had people ask me if she was a rottie! which is funny because the breeder also breeds rotties...anyway Lillie was 8 wks when I got her and her coat was long and fluffy (may be a difficult adult coat to deal with)...Sadie now has a silky coat very, very easy to take care of...Lillie is hard to brush, 1 being she is a puppy and 2 because her adult coat is coming in and the puppy coat gets a little knotted...The only thing that changed on Sadie was her face...she has a beautiful gold face and legs...her body color never changed...her body is black...Lillie had already started changing when I got her...her little head almost looks bald because it is so silver which I know from research should turn into gold or tan...you can even see the silver at her roots on her back....So with all this being said...we are all indivuals and will be what we are...I think you furbaby is adorable and you shouldn't worry about her looks...I have read that it can take up to 2 years for their adult coat to come in...I certainly wouldn't think of getting rid of her because of her coat...JMO

| Here you go , this is the only dog I have with a silk coat but it is not a slow growing coat, your pup actually might have longer hair than she did at that age.. This is the only good COAT pic I can find at 5 months, and the other is now. Her coat grew very fast but she is also only 8"tall so that helped LOL |

| I understand that everyone (on the other threads on the same subject) is trying to defend the cute doggie, but we need to pay attention to the fact that "yorkieluvinmoma" is saying that she was wanting a SHOW quality dog. Yorkieluvinmoma, since this is the showing forum, I would post the other pics that you took of your puppy here. They show more of her form, and imo, her coat is not the only thing keeping her from being show quality. I'm just being honest, since you asked. Anyway, maybe you could get some knowledgable feedback from other showers, here. I'm not sure why you bought her as a show potential when you obviously feel so unsure about it, however, I think everyone is also doing you and your dog a disservice by obviously trying to convince you to love and keep her. If she is really not what you wanted, my advice would be to pass her on to a pet home that will appreciate her for what she is, and if you are serious about wanting to show, maybe do a little more research next time before jumping into something so costly. I hope this didn't sound rude.

| Is this your first yorkie. It seems like you know nothing about the breed. You need to study the breed and the lines and pedigrees and then buy from a show breeder. You don't just go out and buy a dog and start showing it. There is a whole lot more to it. If you want a show dog, then buy from a show breeder where yiou can see both the parents and the breeder can advise you. You cannot expect to get a show dog if you did not buy from show stock. And if you did buy from show stock chances are he is still not going to be perfect. Very few dogs are show quality. This is the 4th post you have started about this and you have been given the same advice in each post. I agree with jigetyjig if you're not sure about the dog, then rehome it now and do some research. Cause the poor little thing needs a home where it will be loved no matter what it looks like. Everyone is trying to be nice here, but I think their patience is wearing thin. Last edited by JeanieK; 10-19-2006 at 07:22 AM. |

| breeding Get ready for a scolding....I looked at your web site. If your goals are to be a reputable, ethcial breed who has the repsect of other reputable breeders, you will not get it by breeding a 10 month bitch. If this was an accidental breeding, even more reason NOT to advertize it..it gives the novice the idea this is good breeding practices. Best wishes with your future goals... PS..if the bitch in the photo was sold to you by an ethcial show breeder, then I am sure they will stand behind this btich if she has what looks like a wiry coat that does not grow and therefore not a show potential. |

Maybe you should look into re-homing this little one to a pet home that will love her unconditionally. Frankly, I've NEVER heard anyone on here talk about a yorkie pup with such disdain.
