She is absolutely correct. You are to be a back drop. Any correction should be unnoticed by the judge or spectator. Once you learn how to present a dog. It becomes second nature. Every dog is different.

| ![]() I forgot to add. Professional handlers are good, they know their craft well and can finish a dead cat. The owner/handlers that have been in it along time and are winning are the ones I tend to watch more. It's not say that I don't ask for advice from a Professional Handler when I need it, I do. They're really very helpful.

| ![]() Finish a dead cat! lol I almost spit out my tea! I think the best I ever saw was when one girl I took a handling class with (nice girl) was showing her french bulldog. She beat a prof handler and went up to her afterward and thanked her, becuase she has been competing agaisnt this handler for over 2 years and always lost to her. But she said she kept watching the handler, seeing what the handler did differently and boom, beat her 2 shows in a row. The handler was quite flattered. When I showed the std poodle I talked with the prof handler, he said that my poodle had a better build but bevause he was only a 6 months and did not show well he would beat us with a poorer built poodle and he did, he could show that poodle so all eyes were on him and amazed.

| ![]() If you buy from a reputable breeder and I could name a dozen to start, the dog will be what you paid for or replaced...it will not be 12 weeks, it will be in the contract to be finishable and it will not be a pig in a poke. |

| ![]() That is more reassuring. I know it rarely happens but my greatest fear is being somwhat sure of my "show" dog into the ring I go and being excused for a major fault I was too ignorant to recognize...(actually this would be a nightmare!!). Realistically I know this will not happen (hence the numerous questions, and research and waiting) but still I would prefer not to have that happen!

There are is no dismissal in the yorkie standard. Now if you're talking about yourself, just be pleasant, don't abuse your dog, and be a wonderful, winner or loser

| ![]() No I do not worry about my behaviour, lol. You will never see me leave the ring huffy! There is nothing I hate more then bad sports!!!! Especially at a dog show, after you they did pay to get a judges opinion of their dog and they got it...lol. I used to curl at provincial level in my teens, we would deal with some very high strung bad losers and winners....nicest compliment I ever got was from a former competitor who said I was always nice to play against. ![]()

| ![]() Oh I know! lol But i was thinking of the woman who I saw last November...yikes!! She was so angry she would not accept her ribbon, stormed out, complained to anyone in earshot, yelled at her breeder who was there (we were camped out with her breeder and had front row seats) because her breeder beat her, gathered her things and made a loud exit! She was so mad it was ugly! lol Some people need to get over themselves...(or their dogs).

Some people don't understand it's just a dog show and it won't solve the age old problem of obtaining world peace

| ![]() Some people take EVERYTHING personally. I do not have a thick skin in some cases but in winning and losing no problem, live and learn. We never got a point, in that show we were in, but we learned, talked to people, got to go in the ring. The experience was great. I am not sure about CKC but no one bothered to step in, I think everyone was enjoying the performance too much.
