| Can One Finish A Champion By Only Showing In A State! I was wondering ,since I am not good with planes, if someone can finish a champion by only showing within a state. How many wins do they need to get the champ status. Also what is meant by winning a major and minor. Thanks. |

| You can finish a dog in one state, but it will probably take longer. You need 15 points, and of those 15, you must have at least 2 Majors (3 or more points) under different judges. There are usually different shows held in different areas of the same state, or even neighboring states. We only travel by car to show sites, in our state, and the surrounding states. |

Since your not good with planes. This is not an issue to be able to finish a dog. I drive to all the shows I show at and only fly to a few. I drive within usually 3 hours of my home. I can go back and forth to most of these shows as well. But it all depends on where your located in conjunction with the shows. There are so many all over the states it no longer is hard or takes long to acquire a Championship on a good dog. Hope this helped.

A major consits of 3 points, 4 points or 5 points. You need two of these in the total 15 points to obtain a Championship. There is no such thing as minor's. We call them singles at AKC shows. A single can be one or two points. All of these depend on how many dogs entered at the show in your breed, as to how many points you can recieve. I just this past weeknd finished my girl Tango. With her third 4 point major going breed over the Champion special in Columbia, Missouri. She finished rather quickly with limited showing. I hope I have as good of luck with her children one day when I breed her.

In her pictures she looks very young. Most show breeders do not sell show quality until they are 8-10 months of age and sometimes older. This is after the bite has come in and you have a good idea about movement and topline as well as coat. Did you buy her as a show potential? I hope she turns out. As I am sure your attached and want to show her. Who was your breeder that sold her to you and does she show as well? If she does and has finished/shown for many years you might have a good chance on her turning out well. In the past I have taken a chance on a younger one (purchseiing from a long time show breeder)and bought it. Because the breeder was not wanting to run it on, and I was willing to take the chance. But personally myself I do not sell show potential ever, I wait until they are older and sell show quality. As I do not want someone showing something I do not want in the ring. And selling it to young this can happen. Your breeder once she is over 8 months of age should have a good idea if it is show or not if she has been showing and producing herself. Good luck and enjoy your matches! I still love puppy matches to this day!
